12 Best Mary Elizabeth Winstead Movies and TV Shows

6. The Beauty Inside (2012)

This social film is about a man who changes his body every day. Alex has had this problem his whole life. His soul keeps jumping from one body to another, and every day is a different day for him. Things become complicated when he falls for a girl. For him, she is the same, but for her, he is different every day. The only thing that doesn’t change is his true self.

5. Fargo (Season 3) (2017)

Fargo is, undoubtedly, one of the best shows today (and maybe even, of all time). An anthology series, it’s every season features a different story. The third season was set in 2010 Minnesota, where a parole officer, Ray Stussy and his girlfriend, Nikki Swango try to build a life together, but their actions always call for trouble. They try to rob Ray’s brother but fail miserably at it. Soon after, they are caught up in a double murder case.

4. Alex of Venice (2014)

This independent film had Winstead play the role of a workaholic lawyer whose life is disrupted when her husband suddenly runs away. As she is burdened with taking care of her young son and her ailing father, along with all other responsibilities of her household, she has to find a way to tackle life. Winstead’s nuanced performance as Alex caught the eye of the critics and strengthened her footing as an actress.

3. Smashed (2012)

Kate Hannah, played by Winstead, and her husband Charlie, played by Aaron Paul, are alcoholics. A series of embarrassing events leads Kate to question her lifestyle and through the help of a co-worker, she decides to join AA. As she struggles with sobriety, she has to deal with Charlie’s addiction and the life that is slowly chipping away.

2. 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)

J.J Abrams devised a great franchise in the form of ‘The Cloververse’. And, in my opinion, ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ is the best of them all (yet!). Michelle has broken up with her boyfriend and is driving away when she meets with an accident. Days later, she wakes up in a bunker, her leg chained to the ground and her wounds tended to. She discovers that a man named Howard found her on the road and saved her. Also, in the meantime, the world was invaded by the aliens who have poisoned the air, and the bunker is the only safe place. But Michelle has her suspicions and, to her horror, Howard’s reality slowly unravels.

1. Faults (2014)

This story follows the encounter of a cult-specialist writer, Ansel Roth, with a couple who seek his help to deprogram their cult-fanatic daughter, Claire. Winstead played the role of Claire, the girl who believes that she has gained the power of telepathy through meditation techniques that she learned from a cult. This is one of those films that begin as something and by the end, turn out to be something completely different.
