‘Blue Bloods’ is CBS’s long-running police procedural drama that follows the Irish-American Reagan clan. The family patriarch is Frank Reagan, who leads the city’s police force while assuming the mantle of New York’s Police Commissioner. Ten seasons in and counting, ‘Blue Bloods’ is a gripping tale, packed with charismatic performances and jaw-dropping plotlines — sprinkled with just the right doses of family dynamics. And its long run is testimony to its popularity. Now that season 10 has ended, the question is, will we get ‘Blue Bloods’ season 11. Here’s everything we know.
Blue Bloods Season 11 Release Date
‘Blue Bloods’ season 10 premiered on September 27, 2019, on CBS, marking the show’s milestone 200th episode. It then ended its run on May 1, 2020. Just like its predecessors, the 10th outing was originally commissioned for 22 episodes. But because of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the season was cut short by three episodes, with episode 19 serving as the de-facto season finale.
Season 10 of ‘Blue Bloods’ averaged a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demo and attracted around 7.7 million viewers per episode. If you compare the numbers with season 9, there is a slight percentage drop. But in spite of the decrease, the drama continues to be a strong returning title on CBS’s slate of scripted shows. Hence, it did not come as a shocker when we learned that the network has already given a go-ahead to the series for its 11th outing.
Yes, you heard that right! ‘Blue Bloods’ is already renewed. But this time around, we cannot expect it to return in the fall. Considering that almost everything is in a standstill due to the current health crisis, filming will get postponed. Our best guess is that ‘Blue Bloods’ season 11 will release sometime in 2021.
Blue Bloods Season 11 Cast: Who Can be in it?
Season 10 of ‘Blue Bloods’ is led by Donnie Wahlberg (Danny Reagan), Bridget Moynahan (Erin Reagan), Will Estes (Jamie Reagan), and Len Cariou (Henry Reagan). They are joined by Sami Gayle (Nicky Reagan-Boyle), Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan), Marisa Ramirez (Detective Maria Baez), Vanessa Ray (Eddie Janko-Reagan), Gregory Jbara (Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Garrett Moore), Robert Clohessy (Lt. Sidney Gormley), and Abigail Hawk (Detective Abigail Baker).
In season 11, we expect most of the lead cast to make their respective comebacks.
Blue Bloods Season 11 Plot: What Can it be About?
In the 10th outing of ‘Blue Bloods’, we saw the Reagans going through multiple momentous changes. Jamie and Eddie start off their wedded journey by moving into a new, beautiful apartment. Frank becomes a part of a long-term feud between the NYPD and the FDNY while Erin attempts to tackle allegations accusing her of not being an effective prosecutor.
Season 10 did end with a make-shift finale, ‘Family Secrets’. However, the good thing is, the conclusion, in fact, feels like a befitting end to the installment. There’s a major reveal — Joe Reagan has a secret son named Joe Hill, who works for the NYPD. In season 11, we expect to see more of Joe and how his entry causes further shifts in the existing family dynamics. Additionally, we will also get to follow Jamie and Eddie’s journey as they plan for kids. Moreover, the DA race might also take center-stage in the upcoming season, especially if Erin decides to participate.
