‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Releases First Teaser

The ‘Breaking Bad‘ feature-length film has released its first teaser trailer. Titled ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’, it is headed is slated to release on Friday, October 11, 2019 on Netflix. The movie will also air on AMC. The much awaited film has been produced by Mark Johnson, Melissa Bernstein, Charles Newirth, Diane Mercer and Aaron Paul, along with Sony Pictures Television.

Vince Gilligan, creator of the original series, returns as the writer and director of the movie adaptation. He had renewed his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television in July 2018. ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ is the first project to result from the three-year deal.

The official synopsis provided by Netflix reads, “In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.” Aaron Paul is reprising his role as Jesse Pinkman and the last time we saw the spunky meth cook, he was driving off from the Nazi compound to some unknown location. In the teaser, we see a man held in an interrogation room. He is recognizable as Skinny Pete, one of the dealers who worked with Jesse back in the day. Pete says, “I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve said, like, 500 times already, I have no idea where he is. Don’t know where he’s headed, either. North, South, West, East, Mexico, I don’t have a clue. But yo, even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you, because I’ve been watching the news, same as everybody else. I’ve seen that little cage they kept him in, I heard about what they did to him to make sure he kept cookin’, so sorry, I don’t know what to tell you … no way I’m helping you people put Jesse Pinkman back inside a cage.”

For those unaware of the original show, ‘Breaking Bad’ started airing in 2008 and ran for five seasons during which time it became a critical hit for AMC. While on air, the show became the recipient of numerous Golden Globe and Emmy Awards for the best drama series category. Paul gained recognition for his portrayal of Pinkman, while Bryan Cranston was lauded for portraying Walter White excellently. The show revolves around Walter, a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with cancer, who starts to cook meth with his former student, Pinkman. Although the initial plan is to make enough money to pay for the treatment and support the White family, Walter finds himself gaining widespread recognition in the world of drugs due to his superior quality of meth. Soon, he is deep into the mess and finds that leaving the drug trade is not that easy.
