When Netflix first announced an animated adaptation of the renowned ‘Castlevania’ game series, everyone was talking about it but as expected, most fans were a little wary about it as well. Most game adaptations don’t really traverse too well on screen but Warren Ellis’ involvement with it gave fans some peace. Warren is very well known for his work in ‘Red’ and ‘Iron Man: Extremis,’ but ‘Castlevania’ is now easily one of his best creations.
Although the series isn’t exactly like Konami’s original gaming version, it still has everything from gory action scenes to deep religious themes that most fans expect. The series has indeed found its own path and deserves a revisit, so it’s not at all surprising that Netflix has now renewed it for Season 3. So, with that said, here are all the details that you need to know about the upcoming season of ‘Castlevania.’
Castlevania Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Castlevania’ season 1 premiered on Netflix in an ONA format on July 7, 2017 and aired a total of 4 episodes. On the same day, it was renewed for season 2 which released on October 26, 2018 and aired 8 episodes. Based on a video game of the same name by Konami, the animated series was very well received by the Western audience. According to Parrot Analytics, it generated 23,175,616 “total audience demand being expressed for a title, within the country.” More so, it was also one of the top 20 most in-demand digital original series in several countries in the year 2017.
According to reports, even the second season was able to garner close to millions of views on Netflix and also received a positive critical response. On rotten tomatoes, 100% of the critics have given the show a positive review. So considering all the rave reviews that it received after its first two seasons, most fans were pretty sure that, sooner or later, it would again return with a whole new season. The good news is that Netflix has already confirmed its third season. ‘Castlevania’ season 3 is scheduled to release on March 5, 2020. The third season will have a total of 10 episodes with each one of them being close to 25 minutes long.

In an interview with IGN, showrunner Adi Shankar also revealed that his upcoming ‘Devil May Cry’ series “will join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.” If executed well, this could easily be one of the best anime crossovers ever. The details about this are still under the covers, but Shankar has confirmed that he has already acquired the rights for Capcom’s ‘Devil May Cry.’ Confirming his claim, he even posted a picture on his Twitter account.
