Showtime has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of the drama series ‘The Affair.’ Tagged as ‘Forgiveness is Hard,’ the 48-second sneak peek features a desperate Noah Solloway (Dominic West) craving for the forgiveness of Helen Butler (Maura Tierney). ‘The Affair’ final season reportedly follows the main characters coming to terms with the aftermath of their random choices in life.
The teaser opens up with a monologue of Noah.
“I would do anything, anything to undo what happened,” he says.
But the following visuals imply that it’s too late for Noah to patch things up with Helen. According to the official logline, Helen falls for a movie star and starts an intoxicating affair in the new season. On the other hand, Noah battles with the perils of managing the family in Helen’s absence. When the two seem to settle with their present, someone from their past surfaces along with a series of unpleasant events.
The teaser also hints a tragic turn in the story when a Range Rover collides head-on with a truck. Though the first look doesn’t reveal the face behind the wheels, Helen is seen running after something in shots intercut with the crash. We are left with the question, was it Noah in the driving seat?
