6. He Was a Quiet Man (2007)
‘He Was a Quiet Man’ can be called a ‘one-man’ show since Christian Slater as Bob pulls off his role so well. But Elisha Cuthbert as Venessa plays her part with complete conviction and deserves due attention for this. Her role as a quadriplegic who falls in love with Bob adds much-needed romance to the story. But being very confused, it doesn’t let it settle and the darkness comes around to ultimately settle. A well-told story, good cast and some mind-blowing scenes- what more is needed for a good film?
5. House of Wax (2005)
This haunting remake of the 1953 film of the same name gives plenty of goosebumps and scares. It is disgusting and scarring but isn’t that how a horror film is supposed to be? This is one of the films which established Elisha Cuthbert as a mainstream film actress while Chad Michael Murray makes an equally impressive appearance as her twin brother. Filled with body-chilling moments, ‘House of Wax’ ensures a bumpy and scary ride/night for anyone watching it.
4. The Ranch (2016-present)
The latest one in the list, ‘The Ranch’ is one of the lighter works of Elisha Cuthbert. Starring alongside Ashton Kutcher, she plays his girlfriend Abby in this hilarious comedy series which airing on Netflix, is in its second season. While the show itself has received mixed reviews from the critics, they have been more favorable to the cast commenting positively on Kutcher’s and Cuthbert’s performances.
3. 24 (2001-2010)
’24’ is the TV series through which most people know Elisha Cuthbert. They know her as the girl who played Jack Bauer’s daughter Kim in the series. Spanning over nearly a decade, ’24’ is one of the most acclaimed American drama series. While Kiefer Sutherland has to be considered the real star of the show, Cuthbert gives one of her best performances in this action-packed drama on terrorism.
2. The Girl Next Door (2004)
Elisha Cuthbert had been considered a bold actress but with this film, she just took the “daring” to another level. Most importantly, she exudes a lot of confidence as the charismatic Danielle and shows that she had no qualms about portraying an ex-prostitute on-screen. Emile Hirsch is perfect as Matthew Kidman but this film is an Elisha Cuthbert show all the way. It remains to be one of the boldest performances seen in films. But obviously, the best part of the film is that it remains a simple high school romantic comedy at the core.
1. My Sassy Girl (2008)
‘My Sassy Girl’ has to be considered Cuthbert’s best film because this is probably the only pure romance that she has been seen in. Taking a break from her unconventional roles, she finally did a romantic role and still excelled at it. This film is about love, about separation, about death and most importantly, about destiny. As quoted by an old man in the film, ‘Destiny is the bridge we build to the person we love. And that bridge leads this film to the first position on this list.
