Herson Steven Leon Valdez, AKA Un Tal Arañita, first captured the attention of the audience in episode 1, titled ‘Bending the Rules’ of TLC’s ‘Most Extreme Humans.’ The Colombian native is living with a rare condition that leaves him with what is commonly described as “backward knees.” Since the condition has restricted his mobility, he has always faced difficulty in walking. On the show, he explained that as he gained weight, it put additional pressure on his legs, further restricting his ability to walk. Gradually, he began fearing that he might eventually lose his ability to walk, leading him to consult a doctor about undergoing surgery once again.
Herson Valdez Sought Medical Help as His Condition Progressively Worsened
Herson Steven Leon Valdez, also known as Un Tal Arañita, was born with a rare condition called congenital multiple arthrogryposis, which has caused his arms and legs to bend abnormally and made movement a constant challenge. As his weight increased, the pressure on his legs intensified, causing them to bend further. He began fearing that he would soon lose the ability to walk altogether. Throughout those difficult years, Herson’s girlfriend of 7 years remained by his side, supporting him unconditionally. As he began thinking about taking the next step in their relationship, he realized he needed to find out whether anything could be done to improve his condition.
Herson revealed that when he was a child, he had already gone through more than six surgeries. However, his last procedure had not produced the desired result, and his legs eventually returned to their previous position. He eventually met Dr. Miguel Galbán, a specialist in the reconstruction of congenital deformities. After examining him, the doctor discovered that he was walking by putting pressure on a dislocated knee and explained that the condition was worsening. The doctor further stated that Herson would need two surgeries. Initially, the prospect frightened him, but he ultimately agreed to undergo the procedures to move forward in his life rather than allowing his condition to continue deteriorating.
Herson Valdez is Connecting With Millions on Social Media as a Content Creator
Despite his limitations, Herson has always been driven by his hardworking nature to forge his own path. He completed his studies at the Nuevo Mundo before embarking on his professional journey. He began his career by showcasing his skills at La Calle, but later left that position. In recent years, he has found a way to connect with people through social media. Herson has currently gained over 1.3 million followers on Facebook as a digital creator.
Moreover, Herson boasts over 25.2K followers on his Instagram page. On both platforms, he shares his personal experiences and everyday moments. However, he has not shared further details about his professional life. Apart from that, Herson shared on the show that although he has mobility limitations, they don’t stop him from dancing along to the tunes played by the street performers.
Herson Valdez Loves Celebrating Life With His Partner and Parents
Herson has also found meaning in his personal life when he first crossed paths with his soulmate, Yorelis Bohorquez. Their story began when her sister initially introduced them to each other. As they began spending time together, Herson and Yorelis’ casual conversations turned into a deeper connection. Over time, they took the next step in their relationship by moving in together. Simultaneously, he welcomed her two daughters into his life and came to regard them as his own children. Throughout their several years of relationship, the pair has remained each other’s strongest source of support. On the show, Yorelis accompanied him to the doctors’ appointments and helped care for him, showcasing how much Herson means to her.
Herson also revealed that he wanted to seek medical help not only because his condition was worsening but also because he hoped to take the next step in their relationship by proposing to Yorelis. With the help of his family, he arranged a memorable surprise when he went paragliding. When he landed after the activity, he finally popped the question, to which she happily said, “Yes.” Herson also considers his family as an integral part of his life. Together, the couple loves visiting different restaurants and going on romantic dates, making lifelong memories. In June 2025, they took another step forward when he shared that Yorelis was pregnant. Herson shares a particularly close bond with his parents, Victor and Argenis Valdez.
Herson’s connection with his parents further became highlighted when they promptly showed their immense support as soon as their son expressed his wish to marry his longtime girlfriend. He never shies away from expressing his affection toward Argenis and Yorelis. In May 2023, he wished them on Mother’s Day, writing, “Happy Mother’s Day, my loves.” Beyond that, Herson enjoys spending time with his friends, whether it be celebrating birthdays together or sharing meals. In his free time, he enjoys activities like horseback riding or simply soaking in the sun at the beach. Furthermore, music has always been a source of comfort in his life. Herson often finds himself immersed in the melodies, which serve as an escape from the hardships.
