Is Luis Vadala Based on Moria Casan’s Real Boyfriend? What Happened to Him?

Netflix’s ‘Moria’ follows the ups and downs in the life of the Argentine icon, Moria Casan. Over the course of eight episodes, the show gives keen insights into her personal struggles and her rise to stardom. While her undivided focus on her career and ambitions is at the center, the story also turns the spotlight towards her romantic relationships, which had a significant impact on her life. One of Moria’s relationships was with Luis Vidala. The show covers a significant aspect of their meeting and their passionate romance, but it doesn’t go into any details about what happened to him after he parted ways with Moria. SPOILERS AHEAD.

Luis Vidala’s Deteriorating Health Led to His Tragic Passing

Luis Vidala passed away at the age of 69 on July 23, 2023, at Hospital Británico in Buenos Aires. He had been suffering from an unknown illness and had been hospitalized for several days before his passing. Coming from an entirely non-entertainment background, Luis came into the media spotlight when he started dating Moria Casan in the 1990s. At the time, he was working at a mechanic shop, but he gave up that line of career after the highly publicized relationship brought him unprecedented media exposure. At the time, Moria already had a daughter, Sofia, with her ex-partner, Mario Castiglione. Luis, too, had a daughter named Ingrid from his previous relationship.

For the next decade, Moria and Luis not only pursued a romantic relationship but also collaborated on several professional projects. However, the relationship came to an end in 2001, after it was claimed that both parties had been unfaithful to each other. Reportedly, the parting didn’t happen on amicable terms, especially after Luis publicly accepted his infidelity. Reportedly, Moria sued him and sought a gag order preventing him from speaking about her publicly. In a 2014 interview with LA NACION, Luis revealed that the lawsuit continued for 11 years. Calling the whole thing pointless, he had hoped that the dispute would soon be resolved. Following the breakup with Moria, Luis found love again with a woman named Noelia.

With her, he had a son named Ramiro. In his professional life, Luis tried to keep the momentum from his previous relationship and continue working in the entertainment industry. In 2007, he appeared in Argentina’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother.’ However, due to health concerns, he had to drop out of the show midway. This also marked his last major appearance on television. Luis tried a different route in 2014 when he got involved in a theatre production of Fiestísima. Set to premiere in Mar del Plata, the project had people like Álvaro Oxoby attached. However, Luis’ partner quit the show at a critical moment. Luis tried to keep the project alive by investing his own money, but it eventually fell apart, leading him to turn his focus to other things.

When his various efforts to stay in the artistic field did not pan out, he decided to pivot to a different line of work. He briefly ran a car wash, but in 2016, he settled into a new project in which he was fully invested. He opened a bakery franchise called Panaderías del Pueblo in the city’s Flores neighborhood. At the same time, he was a regular, longtime player at the basketball club ICD Pedro Echagüe. His connection to Moria still meant people recognized him and asked to be photographed with him. While he didn’t disappoint the fans and politely interacted with them, he also reportedly said he preferred to live out of the spotlight after having spent so many years smack in the middle of it.
