One Day at a Time Filming Locations

One Day at a Time Season 4

‘One Day at a Time’ is a sitcom with a lot of heart. However, its most notable feature is the fact that the series, despite being a sitcom, does not shy away from presenting difficult, not-so-funny issues without losing out on its positive outlook. “This should probably be a gritty drama, or maybe a sour-smart single-camera auteurish dramedy. Instead it’s the beautiful, improbable “One Day at a Time,” a multicamera family comedy,” reports the New York Times.

The show is based on the 1975 series of the same name. It reimagines the original with a Hispanic family. This lends tons of inclusivity to ‘One Day at a Time,’ making the show hold a mirror to the issue of racial discrimination in the United States. Apart from that, the series also tackles issues like PTSD and homophobia effectively.

The show follows the Alvarez family and their routine conflicts. Unfortunately, the series was canceled by Netflix due to low viewership. Luckily, it was picked up by Pop TV afterward due to a dedicated resurrection attempt by the show’s die-hard fans. It is a rare feat for a show airing on an online streaming service to be revied by a traditional network. Generally, it is the other way around.

One Day at a Time Filming Locations

‘One Day at a Time’ is a warm and inclusive sitcom that manages to do what quality sitcoms are known for the best: make viewers seamlessly switch from a laughter riot to a teary frenzy. That is not the only characteristic of the genre that ‘One Day at a Time’ abides by. Like a conventional sitcom, most of the action on the series is set in a handful of frequently appearing locations, like the Alvarez family home. Hence, it is natural for viewers to wonder where the series is filmed.

The show is filmed in front of a live studio audience on stage 25 of the production facility. As mentioned before, ‘One Day at a Time’ follows several staples of a conventional sitcom. It is set in a handful of frequently appearing locations and features a laugh track. While laugh tracks might have gone out of fashion, its usage in ‘One Day at a Time’ lends it a warm, almost nostalgic feel. The laugh track is recorded from the reactions of the live studio audience. Apart from the actual shooting, the actors often engage with the audience as well. Have a look at the post below.
