‘The Voice’, America’s mega-hit talent competition, which is a part of the eponymous franchise, seeks to discover hidden singing talents from the country. Since its debut in 2011, we have seen innumerable aspiring artists battling it out to win the grand cash prize and secure a record deal with Universal Music Group. 18 seasons in and counting, the show has the potential to span multiple additional installments. Here’s everything we know about ‘The Voice’ season 19.
The Voice Season 19 Release Date
‘The Voice’ season 18 premiered on February 24, 2020, on NBC. However, the season saw major changes in its schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of live performances was cut down to three, which were the live playoffs, the semifinals, and the finale. The live shows were changed to remote, pre-recorded performances, filmed at the homes of the contestants and coaches. The Instant Save was orchestrated via The Voice Official App in the playoffs and semifinals. Moreover, no streaming votes or bonuses were awarded. The two-part finale premiered on May 18, 2020 (which showcased performances from the final 5), and May 19, 2020 (where the results were announced), respectively.
Until now, NBC has not officially announced the renewal of the show. But this should not be a reason for concern. Owing to its extreme popularity, it is only a matter of time before the show is renewed. The only concern is that due to the ongoing health crisis, the next season may not release on its regular September schedule. Instead in all probability, ‘The Voice’ season 19 will release in February 2021.
The Voice Season 19 Cast: Host and Mentors
In season 18, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton featured as the coaches. Nick Jonas joined the panel after having replaced Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returned to resume his hosting duties. NBC has not yet announced who will be the mentors in a potential 19th season. Blake Shelton had earlier mentioned that there’s a probability of earlier coaches making comebacks in the upcoming installment. We will update this section with the exact details as and when we learn more.
The 18th outing saw 40 contestants vying to make it as the winner. Each coach was guaranteed to have at least one artist in the finale. In the finals, we had five singers, namely, Toneisha Harris, Todd Tilghman, Micah Iverson, CammWess, and Thunderstorm Artis. The winner was ultimately crowned based on the at-home viewers’ votes. Of course, season 19 will see a group of entirely new participants, battling it out to ace the highly competitive contest.
