‘House of Payne’ is a sitcom by Tyler Perry that revolves around the eponymous family, headed by Curtis and Ella Payne. They are parents to Calvin and uncle and aunt to C.J. LaVan Davis has been portraying Curtis since season 1. After running for eight cycles, the series was off-air for about eight years. It returned with the ninth installment in September 2020.

But fortunately, it turns out to be benign.
One feels that Curtis ought to be around when his family is going through so much. But the character is not seen for episodes 3, 4, and 5, and neither is LaVan Davis credited for them. However, Curtis’s absence is explained in the third episode itself, which mentions that the Payne patriarch is on a barbecue tour. Curtis is loved by the fans because of his loud personality and sharp one-liners. Even though he might across as a little harsh towards his family members, he is deeply connected to them and has his own way of expressing love.
Where Is LaVan Davis Now?
The good news is that there have been no official statements suggesting LaVan Davis’s departure from the series. On the contrary, we see him return in the sixth episode of season 10 called ‘Missing Mustard Seeds.’ The fans have been vocal about how they felt not seeing the character in three episodes of season 10. Apart from being an actor, LaVan Davis is also a talented singer and a comedian. The 54-year-old has been in the entertainment industry for a long time. Most of his notable credits are Tyler Perry’s works such as ‘Daddy’s Little Girls,’ ‘Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns,’ and the stage plays ‘Why Did I Get Married?’ and ‘Madea Goes to Jail.’ Seeing how his working relationship with Perry is a staple feature of his career, it is unlikely that the actor will leave ‘House of Payne.’ The sitcom has already been renewed for its eleventh round. This means that, in all likelihood, we will be seeing Davis for a long time.
