Disney Plus Original film ‘Godmothered’ follows the story of Eleanor, a fairy-godmother-in-training who comes to modern-day Boston to help a little girl named Mackenzie with her crush, at the same time proving that fairy godmothers are still very much needed. Much to Eleanor’s surprise, instead of a sweet child, she finds a grumpy 40-something single mom. Turns out, Mackenzie’s letter was from the 1980s which Eleanor had failed to notice. Hilarity ensues. The film ‘Godmothered’ is sure to remind viewers of the 2007 movie ‘Enchanted’, in which Amy Adams’ character is a fairy-tale princess who magically lands in modern-day New York in a wonderful collision of the real world with the fairy-tale realm. ‘Godmothered’ builds on a similar foundation but the premise is fresh, making the movie a charming watch. What is Godmothered About?
Eleanor is an awkward, blundering, and naive fairy-godmother-in-training who is worried that the godmother school in Motherland will shut down soon because the demand for fairy-godmothers has dwindled to almost zilch. In an attempt to prove that the need for fairy-godmothers still exists, Eleanor takes the letter of a 10-year-old girl Mackenzie and sets off on a quest to help the child. When she reaches modern-day Boston, Eleanor is quite surprised to find that Mackenzie is a cynical and world-weary grown woman with two kids and a crappy job. Unfazed, Eleanor decides to stay and help set Mackenzie on the path to her “happily ever after”.
