What Happened to Zach? Did Carson MacCormac Leave My Life With the Walter Boys?

The third season of Netflix’s ‘My Life With the Walter Boys‘ takes the audience back to Silver Falls, where the teenagers fall in and out of love with each other. While the major focus is on the romances of Jackie, Cole, and Alex, the other Walter brothers also get their time in the spotlight. The second season expanded its focus on the romance between Nate Walter and Skylar, who had been in a loving relationship. But the arrival of a boy named Zach shook things up for them so much that they don’t seem to have recovered from it even now. Interestingly, though, Zach doesn’t seem to be in the picture anymore. SPOILERS AHEAD.

Zach Became the Reason for Nate and Skylar’s Split

Zach came into the picture in the second season of ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ as a new love interest for Nate Walter. At the time, Nate had been with Skylar, and while their relationship had been loving for the most part, Nate started to feel that the spark between them was gone. Having been together for a while meant their relationship had reached a point where it felt to Nate like they were stuck in a rut. He didn’t enjoy Skylar’s attention the same way anymore, and in the midst of this boredom came Zach. He had been around the school before, but he hadn’t exactly been an active participant. But then, he joins the school’s club as a photographer and collaborates with Nate, who makes music for school projects.

This collaboration quickly turns into a romance, as Zach, despite knowing Nate is with Skylar, aggressively pursues him. He doesn’t shy away from expressing his feelings for him in public and showers him with the attention that Nate feels lacking from his boyfriend. The Walter boy starts to feel a pull towards Zach, eventually giving in to the desires and kissing him at the school dance. In between this, Skylar is not entirely unaware of the dynamic between his boyfriend and the new photographer. He tries to make up for the time he didn’t spend with Nate, but the conflict has already taken root. Skylar tries to warn Nate about his new suitor, but it further pushes him towards Zach. Skylar tries to hold on to their relationship for as long as possible, but when Nate and Zach kiss, he decides to end things for his own sake.

Nate feels bad about breaking Skylar’s heart, but at the same time, he is excited about the idea of being with someone new. And this is when the twist arrives. It turns out that Zach had never really been interested in Nate. In fact, his true target had always been Skylar. Turns out, they secretly dated in sophomore year, but when Zach refused to come out of the closet, Skylar decided not to wait around for him anymore and broke up with him. Now that Zach is out, he wishes to be with Skylar again, which is why he decided to seduce Nate to break them up. His plan worked, but it doesn’t mean Skylar will get back together with him. If anything, the whole drama makes Skylar despise him even more.

Zach is Still Around in Silver Falls Though His Part in the Show is Done

When Skylar tells Zach that there is no way they are getting back together, things fall apart between him and Nate as well. Nate is shocked to discover he was used as a pawn to get to his own boyfriend, and is ashamed that he didn’t realize this deception earlier, and that he ruined what he had with Skylar as well. He apologizes to Skylar, but the latter is in no mood to continue the drama. It isn’t easy to forget how easily Nate jumped from one guy to the next who showed him any form of attention. He decides it’s time for him to be on his own for a while, and this is what he does in Season 3. The interactions between him and Nate are limited and awkward, suggesting they are still reeling from their breakup.

They still care about each other, though, as Skylar immediately reports to Katherine when Nate suffers a mini stroke. As for Zach, he is entirely out of the picture now. Having messed things up for everyone, he didn’t want to be around Skylar or Nate anymore, so he decided to drop out of the school club. Skylar reveals this when he says the club needs a new camera now that Zach is gone. Likely, Zach is still around in Silver Falls, but we don’t see him as much because the focus is entirely on Jackie and the Walter boys, and Zach is nowhere near this orbit. Still, there is a chance that he might return in the following seasons, even if it’s just to stir the pot again.
