The original ‘Dorohedoro’ manga, written by Q Hayashida, first came out almost two decades ago and since then, because of its incredible world-building and intriguing characters, it has become somewhat of a classic. So for obvious reasons, when the anime was first announced, fans of the manga were all hyped up for the show. And surprisingly, Studio MAPPA (‘Kakegurui‘, ‘Yuri! On Ice‘) has done an incredible job with not just the animation of the series but also with the convoluted structure of its plot. ‘Dorohedoro’ is absolute chaos but you once you’re hooked on to it, there’s no turning back. That being said, if you’re already looking forward to its second season, here’s everything you need to know about it.
Dorohedoro Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
The first season of ‘Dorohedoro’ premiered on January 13, 2020, and with a total of 12 episodes, it finished airing on March 30, 2020. Now, ‘Dorohedoro’, as the name suggests, is one of the weirdest and trippiest anime you’ll ever see and that’s exactly what makes it so good. The first season, so far, has been received really well by the anime community and even fans of the original manga can’t help but appreciate it for both its loyal adaptation of the story and its animation style. This itself suggests that the anime has a good chance of returning with a whole new season.
The original Dorohedoro manga has a total of 23 published volumes which not only leaves room for the second season but also for the third and fourth season as well. The first season of the anime adapts close to the 8 chapters of the manga and only initiates the main arc of its overarching storyline. So a lack of source material is certainly not a problem for its creators.
The director of the show, Yuichiro Hayashi, had earlier promised fans that its season 2 would be green-lit if it manages to get an optimistic response. So hoping that the director will keep his word, we can expect ‘Dorohedoro’ Season 2 to release sometime in January 2021. The good news for ‘Dorohedoro’ fans is that a special OVA release of the anime has already been announced and is scheduled to release on June 17, 2020. This OVA will consist of 6 episodes with each having a runtime of 5 minutes.

Dorohedoro English Dub
Unfortunately, for now, the first season of ‘Dorohedoro’ is only available on Netflix Japan but it will probably be available on Netflix US with an English dub later this year.
What is Dorohedoro About?
‘Dorohedoro’ is set in a bleak world in which ruthless sorcerers simply use humans as lab rats for experimenting with their magic. The powerless humans rot in a small town known as “The Hole,” while the magicians live in a relatively comfortable life in a parallel realm connected to hole by magical doors. Caiman, the main character of the series, is a huge muscular man with the head of a reptile.
He hates what he looks like and has absolutely no memories of who made him look this way. Determined to restore his life back to normal, Caiman sets out to hunt sorcerers with his friend Nikaido, but the deeper he delves into unraveling the identity of the mysterious sorcerer, the more he realizes that nothing in his world is all that simple.
