This biographical drama is based on the life of Phoolan Devi, aka Bandit Queen, an Indian dacoit who would go on to become a politician.
The film is based on author Mala Sen’s book ‘India’s Bandit Queen: The True Story of Phoolan Devi’ and showcases the hardships and abuse she faced as a young girl of a lower caste after being married off to a much older guy. How she falls in with a troop of dacoits led by Vikram Mallah Mastana in July 1979 and grows to become the legendary dacoit is what follows.
