Ever since his debut in the low-budget slasher movie ‘He Knows You’re Alone’ in 1980, Thomas “Tom” Jeffrey Hanks has been leaving a memorable mark on the film industry with his remarkable acting and iconic roles. Some of you might know him from ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ while the rest of you might remember ‘The Green Mile’ or ‘Captain Phillips’ when you think of him. Either way, for decades now, Tom Hanks has been a household name with multiple blockbuster hits to his name. 1. Toy Story 5 (June 19, 2026)
To be released on June 19, 2026, Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 5’ will deal with one of the most significant issues the world is facing right now: kids’ obsession with electronic gadgets. Woody (Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and Jessie (Joan Cusack) are introduced to the gadgets that kids are into and realize that their own time is seemingly fading. It is upto them and them alone to keep themselves safe and survive. The movie is also poised to bring back the rest of the beloved characters, voiced by a talented cast that includes Blake Clark as Slinky Dog and Tony Hale as Forky. Ernie Hudson will voice Combat Carl, taking the baton from the late Carl Weathers. ‘Toy Story 5’ is currently in pre-production.
2. Untitled Greyhound Sequel (TBA)
Hanks will reprise his role as Captain Ernie Krause in the upcoming yet-untitled ‘Greyhound’ sequel. Hanks also penned the screenplay, which has Krause and his crew sail from Normandy to the Pacific theater of war, putting their naval expertise to effective use against the Japanese forces. Aaron Schneider is back to helm the Apple TV+ movie, which will begin filming in January 2026. Stephen Graham is also rumored to return as Commander Charlie Cole. The movie has yet to get a release date attached.
3. Untitled Tom Hanks/History Channel Project (TBA)
Hanks will host and narrate a yet-untitled historical series. Currently in pre-production, it will explore World War II via rare archives and new scholarship and illuminate its pivotal moments. History Channel is backing this 20-part series, which has yet to be released. More details about the project are awaited.
