‘Shakugan no Shana’ feels quite similar to ‘Kaze no Stigma’. The chemistry between the male and the female lead can easily be related to the lead couple in ‘Kaze no Stigma’. Both shows have a strong and feisty female character who falls under the tsundere category. These female characters are strong and seem to hate the lead male character but deep down, some sort of love is in the making. ‘Shakugan no Shana’ is also an action drama-fantasy anime.

4. Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha (2007)

‘Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha’ is an entertaining anime that one should definitely give a try. This show is more serious than ‘Kaze no Stigma’ but there are certain similarities between the two. Both of them have characters who have special powers that others don’t possess. Also, there’s a mystery hanging in the plot and requires the work of a detective. Basically, if you want a more serious and darker action and mystery, then go for ‘Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha’.

The plot is really interesting and feels original. Heaven’s and Hell’s gate are two phenomena which covered the night sky with an oppressive landscape. Heaven’s gate opened in the skies of South America while Hell’s Gate opened in the areal space of Japan. No one has any clue about the existence of these gates or the purpose behind them. But with the emergence of these gates came the contractors. These are people who have chosen to sacrifice their humanity for gaining supernatural abilities. The story takes place in a Japanese City which surrounds the gate. Misaki Kirihara is section 4 chief. She finds herself in conflict with an infamous contractor Hei, who goes by the name Black reaper in the underground. Like many of Hei’s associates, he takes jobs from the ruthless syndicate. But there might be more to him than what meets the eye as mysteries unfold, which may as well be standing to threaten the existence of the contractors.

3. Seiken no Blacksmith (2009)

‘Seiken no Blacksmith’ is lighthearted in tone and is more of an ecchi (sexy female characters) version of ‘Kaze no Stigma’. There’s a strong female character who can get things done and is sort of hard on the male character. The male lead is sort of aloof and doesn’t really get into the main stuff unless he is really forced to. The female character, like in ‘Kaze no Stigma’, is again a tsundere and wields a sword. The male character also shares similarities with the protagonist from ‘Kaze no Stigma’. ‘Seiken no Blacksmith’ is also an adventure, fantasy anime with themes of magic and other elements.

Devil’s power is banned from using in combat or in any situation. This law came into effect after the power was used in war and caused huge amounts of destruction. After the war, peace was restored and the power was considered a taboo and no one was allowed to use it. A knight by the name of Cecily Campbell is in need of a blacksmith. She needs to get her sword repaired. The sword has been a gift from her father. One day, she stumbles upon a fight between a man with a weird sword and a ruffian. During the fight, the ruffian used the devil’s power but the man was having none of it as he used his sword to defeat the ruffian with a single blow. 2. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (2014)

‘Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei’ is an entertaining anime for any fans of magic, sci-fi anime. Like ‘Kaze no Stigma’, ‘Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei’ has a different take on magic. It adds a bit of sci-fi stuff in the anime to give it a sort of a twist. Again there’s a similarity pertaining to the relationship between the two lead characters, though the romance stuff is much more dialed down in ‘Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei’. The male and the female leads do not get along with each other that much but when the time demands, they work together to do the job.

In this anime, magic is no more the stuff from fairy tales. It is very much real and finds its use in the latest technologies. Schools and institutes teach magic as a sort of technical skill. One of the best schools for magic is First High School. They have their own unique system of admission. The students are separated into two groups — ‘Blooms’ and ‘Weeds’. Blooms are students who have performed excellently in their entrance test while Weeds are the reserved students who take the second course. Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are siblings who try to get into the academy. Miyuki being a genius aces the test while Tatsuya ends up in the Weeds. But the Tatsuya is quite adept when it comes to technical knowledge and combat skills. Even his magic techniques are sort of unorthodox.
