‘Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun’ comes from a manga that is known for having some cutesy loli characters and heartwarming supernatural themes. With its adorable cast of characters, it walks you through a story that portrays the fleeting, melancholic relationship between humans and supernatural beings.

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Season 1 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Produced by Lerche Studio (‘Danganronpa‘, ‘Kanata no Astra‘), ‘Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun’ episode 1 is slated to release on January 10, 2020. Since its first season has a total of 12 episodes, we can expect it to end by March 2020.

‘Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun’ has been adapted from a manga series written by Iro Aida, which goes by the same name. It has been directed by Masaomi Andō (‘Fairy Tail‘), with Yasuhiro Nakanishi as its scriptwriter, and Hiroshi Takaki as its music composer. Its opening theme song, titled “No. 7”, is performed by Chibaku Shōnen Band and its closing theme, “Tiny Light”, is done by Akari Kito.

Funimation has licensed the series for a simuldub, so we can expect its English dub to be available on the streaming platform on January 10, 2020.

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Plot

Kamome Academy has always been very well-known for its supernatural occurrences and Seven Mysteries. The students of the academy further popularize it by spreading all kinds of rumors surrounding these occurrences. Yashiro, who is one of the students at the academy, decides to summon the seventh mystery “Hanako-san of the Toilet” after she gets to know that the dead spirit can grant her wishes at a cost. Hoping that she would finally be able to get herself a boyfriend after this, she calls out to the spirit, but to her surprise, the spirit turns out to be a boy. With this, the spirit becomes her assistant and the two of them set out to create a balance between the spirit and human world. Along with that, they also try to solve all the supernatural mysteries that surround the school.

Hanako

Hanako’s real name is Yugi Amane and he is a ghost haunting Kamome Academy’s old building’s third-floor female toilet, third stall. In appearance, he is short, has amber blue eyes, and wears an old shabby school uniform. He is the seventh school mystery and boss, and it is his responsibility to maintain a balance between the humans and the spirits of the school. He likes to have fun and can be a bit too childish at times. He also enjoys playing perverted pranks on others but gets flustered too easily when he gets caught. When he was a human, he was obsessed with astronauts and even dreamed of being an astronaut. But now that he is dead, he rarely talks about these dreams. Even when he’s sad, he smiles just mask all of his negative emotions.

Nene Yashiro

Yashiro is the main character of the series, who is a first-year high school student at Kamome Academy’s High School Division. She has a cute face with red eyes and long cream-colored hair. She is hopelessly romantic and initially summons Hanako to find a boyfriend for herself. She seemingly has a very bad taste in men. At times, she also seems quite shallow as she’s only drawn to boys who look good. And because of this, she often ends up getting herself in trouble. Her biggest insecurity is that she is not feminine enough.

Kou Minamoto

Minamoto is another student at the Kamome Academy’s Middle School Division, who comes from a renowned family of exorcists. He is tall, good looking and has spiky blond hair. He is cheerful almost all the time and does not think twice before taking any decisions. Because of his tough appearance, people often assume that he is a delinquent of some sort, however, he is actually the opposite of that. He can be rash and rude at times, but he is also very caring and kind towards those who are close to him.
