Zombieland Double Tap: Cast, Plot, Release Date, Trailer, News

2009’s Zombieland was a major success at the box office and this led to the film’s makers deciding on dropping a sequel. Zombieland brought into the mainstream the popular genre of horror/comedy, rather zombie/comedy once again. In the first movie, we saw that the apocalypse had come when human beings were affected by the strain in the mad cow disease. Keeping in mind that the events of the first movie had begun in a post-apocalyptic world, the makers will have to show how the four lead characters have survived after the events of the first movie were over. The movie is being directed by Ruben Fleischer, who was also the director of the first movie.

Interestingly, a sequel for the movie was being planned even before the first movie was released. Even the cast had reportedly expressed a desire to shoot a sequel to this film. After many considerations and plannings, the second movie was finally commissioned sometime around July 2018. It has been announced that the four major characters in the original movie will find their way back in the sequel. The director, Ruben Fleischer, has recently directed ‘Venom’ (2018). Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are among the co-writers of the movie.

Zombieland: Double Tap Release Date:

The movie is scheduled to release on October 11, 2019. A fall release is strategically tricky because it also happens to be the time when most Oscar contending movies release. Zombieland could be a good option for people who are interested in just two hours fun, instead of indulging in a serious drama.

Zombieland: Double Tap: Cast: Who is in it?

The four star performers from the previous movie- Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin will reprise their roles as Tallahassee, Witchita, Colum, and Little Rock respectively. It will be interesting to see how the director shows the characters a decade after we last saw them. It was already revealed widely to the media that the makers will try to incorporate real-life changes that can happen in ten years in the story of the new Zombieland movie. Writer Paul Wernick says, “Woody Harrelson came up to us after the final cut of the last scene and gave us a hug and said, ‘I’ve never wanted to do a sequel in the previous movies I’ve done until this one.'” This only shows how the actors had fallen in love with their respective characters and wanted to do a sequel to the movie.

Besides the four major characters, there will also be a host of new characters that we will see in the new movie. Avan Jogia will be joining the cast as a young musician called Berkeley. Zoey Deutch, Rosario Dawson and Thomas Middleditch are other actors who will be joining the cast. We have earlier seen Dawson in the Marvel shows like ‘Luke Cage’ and ‘The Punisher’. Bill Murray had made a guest appearance in the movie as a zombie, and it would be interesting to see another such guest appearance in the sequel. It may be any other actor and this can become a unique feature of the franchise.

Zombieland: Double Tap Plot: What is it about?

The makers have not revealed much regarding the plot of the new movie. What we do know however is that the ten years that have gone between the events of the first movie and the sequel will have a major part to play in the 2019 movie. This time the makers need to get the plot right as the tv show of the franchise which was released in 2013 was not successful at all.

What has been revealed of the plot is as follows: the four survivors have now camped inside the White House in their makeshift home. But the happy family is not to last as Witchita and Columbus begin having problems with each other. The problems will start creeping up and this will make Little Rock move away from the group. Instead of being with them, she will move out with the character Berkeley. And in order to find Little Rock, the trio will set out on an adventure which will form the premise of the events of Zombieland: Double Tap. In their adventure, they will be coming across three types of zombies- the Homers, the Hawkings, and the Ninjas. The Homers are stupid, the Hawkings are intelligent, and the Ninjas are deadly. Notice how pop culture has affected the naming of the different types of zombies.
