‘Radiant‘ starts off very slow, and because of its generic plot points and typical slice-of-life themes, one might initially feel a bit turned off by it. But its strength lies in its light comedy and incredible world-building. Produced by Lerche Studio, which is also known for its work in other great anime like ‘Danganronpa‘ and ‘Given‘, ‘Radiant’ is a visual feast. It involves a vibrant color palette and makes subtle emphasis on the designs of each of its characters. Not to mention, its fight scenes have been so brilliantly choreographed and even if you don’t enjoy the storyline of the series, you might stick around to get a glimpse of its action.
Another aspect of it that is truly astonishing is that it has not been adapted from a Japanese manga. ‘Radiant’ is actually an adaptation of a French novel series. Though certain changes have been made to the source to make it more suitable for anime viewers, it stays loyal to the basic ideas presented in it.

Radiant Plot:
‘Radiant’ centers on a young boy named Seth, who dreams of becoming a great sorcerer someday. His motive is to hone his sorcery skills to a level that allows him to destroy all the monsters that come down from the sky. However, he always gets into trouble because of his eagerness to learn more about sorcery and because of this, the people of his village get really sick of him. At one point, even his own guardian grows tired of his weird dreams and antics. One of the monsters attacks the village one day. Realizing that it’s on him to save his village from the massive creature, Seth embarks on a journey to look for the “Radiant”—the legendary liar of the Nemesis. Along the way, he faces several enemies, makes new friends and also learns a lesson or two about sorcery.
