Co-created by Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, and John McKeever, Netflix’s ‘Tires‘ brings back the chaotic life at Valley Forge Auto, which is once again facing new lows in the market. While Will and Shane try anything and everything to keep the company alive, their personal lives bear the brunt of their shortcomings. Fittingly, the defining moment of the third season merges the two paths. As the duo tries one last time to bag a deal with TakaTaka Tires by promoting their business on the news, Shane learns that Lucy is pregnant, and thus begins an entirely new, more mature, and less predictable chapter of this story. While Netflix has not greenlit a fourth season as of writing, the chances of the comedy series coming back are quite high. In the best-case scenario, fans can expect the show to come back as early as 2027.
Tires Season 4 Will Most Likely Follow Shane and Will’s Journey as the New Leaders
With the ‘Tires’ season 3 finale crowning Shane and Will as the new heads of the entire Valley Forge Auto chain, a potential sequel is bound to amp up the stakes by a lot. We get a vague idea of what is to come with the arrival of a new, rival company that very explicitly threatens to take away whatever business Valley Forge has accumulated over the years. While Will and Shane are strong in their rejection for now, this rivalry is all but inevitable and also very likely to be the driving force for a new season. While Shane and Will have triumphed over many a great threat in the past, this marks their first real test as the next generation of leaders, and whether they even choose to continue with this profession remains one of the biggest questions that the story must answer going forward.
Another new chapter in Shane’s life is that of becoming a father, and with Lucy announcing that she’s pregnant, that role seems closer than ever. We have known Shane the trickster and auto repair specialist for quite some time, but this is the first time the idea of Shane the father seems to be taking shape. Several characters make similar leaps in their characterization, such as Dave, who decides to enter an open marriage with Barb while simultaneously working on his sex addiction. The two characters who don’t have much of a transformation this season are Will and Kilah, and while this may be an intentional decision on the creator’s part, there is a chance that season 4 might put more of a focus on them.
Tires Season 4 Might Continue Without a Major Character
Over the course of three seasons, ‘Tires’ has largely maintained its core cast, and that trend is likely to continue going forward as well. While actors Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben are expected to return as the beating hearts of the show, that is, Shane and Will, fans can also expect actors Stavros Halkias, Kilah Fox, and Chris O’Connor to reprise their roles as Dave, Kilah, and Cal, respectively. Another character who is expected to gain a more prominent role going forward is Lucy, which means that there is a good chance of actor Sofia Hasmik returning as one of the main leads of the show. Conversely, we might be seeing less of Jill, which leaves it ambiguous as to whether Taylor Misia will be reprising her role for a potential sequel.
Among the characters who might not be returning for a sequel, the name that tops the list is that of Phil. After he seemingly goes on a sabbatical by the end of episode 11, we do not see actor Thomas Haden Church appear at all in the season finale. Nonetheless, fans can expect him to at least make a cameo appearance if the show is greenlit for a new installment. Additionally, there is a long list of actors who make a guest appearance this season, and are unlikely to come back for season 2, be it Billy Magnussen as Taylor or Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Jamie. Instead, fans can expect many new recognizable faces to join the show, either for a cameo or as recurring characters.
Tires Season 4 Can Focus More on Kilah and Cal
In many ways, ‘Tires’ has always been a tug of war between generations, more specifically, between Shane, Will, and their respective fathers. As such, it comes as a major surprise that Phil has decided to part ways with the shop, at least for now. His brief but eventful relationship with Bonnie seems to have left its mark on him, and on a symbolic level, it might just be a message for Shane and Will instead. For two characters who have always had a hard time with relationships, this can be their chance to learn and separate work from life better. On the flip side, Phil might have left them in an even more precarious position than before, as not only do they have to deal with their new collaboration with TakaTaka, but also any and all competitors that might look their way.
While season 3 expands its scope considerably, we have yet to see much development for two characters in particular, Kilah and Cal. Although episode 3 leads us to believe that Kilah is about to begin a relationship, that thread is abandoned just as quickly. Cal, on the other hand, gets arrested during a police bust, and though his name is cleared soon after, we still don’t know much about his life or what is going on in his mind throughout all of this. A potential sequel can build on this gap and give us a rounder cast, especially now that Shane and Will are in charge of all outlets. No matter what direction the probable sequel takes, if there is one thing fans can expect for certain, it’s that familiar blend of bromance and comedy, only more developed than ever.
