In case you find yourselves wondering the same, we have got you covered.
Making the Cut Filming Locations
‘Making the Cut’ is filmed in several locations around the world including, the United States, Japan, and France. Season 1 of the series was filmed during the summer of 2019, just months before the global coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc worldwide. The production of season 2 took place with all the stringent COVID-19 safety norms in place. Since the shooting for the reality television show is done in so many locations, let’s familiarize ourselves with each of them.
Los Angeles, California
Unlike season 1, which was filmed at several locations around the world, the production of season 2 was limited to Los Angeles. Center of America’s film and television industry, the Southern California city quickly stood up on its feet after facing the adverse impact of the pandemic. The City of Angels is home to the Big Five film studios and attracts numerous television production projects every year, ‘Making the Cut’ being one of them.
New York City, New York
The shooting for season 1 took place in New York, apart from other places worldwide. With a major influence on the global fashion industry, New York City is a dream destination for designers. The city’s fashion industry alone contributes billions of dollars to America’s economy and offers employment opportunities to hundreds of thousands of people.
Moreover, like Los Angeles, New York is also a key film and television production destination in the country and produces over 200 feature films every year. It is often dubbed as the World’s Media Capital and has a huge influence in shaping the entertainment industry of the United States.
Paris, France
Paris is one of many production locations for season 1. The influential European city has been the global fashion capital since the 19th century. Home to renowned contemporary fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix, and Jean-Paul Gaultier, the City of Lights has a lot to offer to all the promising fashion designers that participate in the show.
Joseph Altuzarra, one of the judges in season 1, admitted in an interview that he explored the famed flea markets of Paris along with Nicole Richie.
Tokyo, Japan
Shooting for season 1 also took place in Japan’s busy capital, Tokyo. The world’s most populous metropolis is famous for video games, manga, nightlife, shrines, Japanese cuisines, and the Harajuku fashion. The city is also a prominent filming location, and well-known movies like ‘Inception,’ ‘Kill Bill: Vol. 1,’ ‘The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,’ ‘The Day After Tomorrow,’ and many others have been filmed there.
