Noragami is the story of a God named Yato and his misfortunes in the human world. Not at all like other divine beings, he doesn’t have a riches, acclaim, and his very own holy place. Thus he buckles down by being a convenience god who charges just five yen for his every deed. One day, he is saved from an auto collision by a student named Hiyori. This pivotal occasion changes his and the young lady’s life until the end of time!

The Gods and Demons worked together and used all their strength to seal the heinous creature and divide the key between both the groups. This would be useful in maintaining peace and not let the monster escape. Fast forward several years, Favaro Leone is a bounty hunter. He has a carefree and laid-back attitude. But that’s all about to change. His life takes a turn when he meets a girl named Amira who holds half the Key which can wreak havoc, again.

‘Fairy Tail’ is a great adventure, magic, action genre anime. The plot is great and so are the characters. The show focuses on a world where magic exists and is used to solve problems. Like-minded wizards and mage form a guild and accept job request. Fairy Tail is one such guild and is very popular at that We see Lucy Heartfilia a young mage deciding to become a professional and joining the famous guild. One of her interests is in finding the celestial gate keys. She is tricked by a man who tries to abduct her. Lucy is then saved by a boy named Natsu who also happens to be a member of the Fairy Tail guild and invites Lucy to become a member. Thus, the adventure begins.

13. Juuni Kokki (2002)
‘Juuni Kokki’ is a magic/fantasy genre anime series which deals with a red-haired girl name Youko Nakajima. Youko wants to lead a normal life. She tries hard to maintain a good personality in her school. She studies hard and gets good grades. Not only that but Youko is quite a helpful person. She tries to help her classmates whenever she can. But her inability to deny others any help makes her an easy target to take advantage of. There is another problem though, her red hair doesn’t seem to let her fit in. But all changes when a man walks into her class and salutes her. Turns out Youko is a princess and heir to the Kingdom of Kei. Thus, begin her adventure.

12. Btooom! (2012)
‘Btooom!’ is a thriller action and romance anime. The plot of ‘Btooom!’ focuses on a man named Ryouta Sakamoto who isn’t much extraordinary in real life. He doesn’t have a job and lives off his mother. But he is one of the best one things though. He is Japan’s best player in an online game known as ‘Btooom!’. But his easygoing life is soon shattered as one day he wakes up to find himself stuck on an island and has no recollection of how he got there. As reality dawns on him, he understands that he is trapped in a place which is a recreation of Btooom! in the real world and he must kill all other participants to win.

11. Suzumiya Haruhi no Syoshitsu (2010)
This is another great anime on the list that’s very similar to Noragami in its theme. Haruhi Suzumiya loves mysteries and she set up an SOS Brigade with one of the main characters of the movie, Kyon. But one day when Kyon goes to school to attend SOS Brigade’s celebration he finds nothing. There is no sign of Haruhi Suzumiya at all. What’s stranger is that nobody seems to remember her or the SOS Brigade as a matter of fact. In addition to this, another person has gone missing named, Itsuki Koizumi. What has happened to Haruhi? This movie is quite entertaining.

10. Sword Art Online (2013)
This was the reason that the audience acknowledged as a genre. In the near future the technology has advanced and players can now control their game avatars by their thoughts through equipment known as “NervGear.” Trouble arises when Kirito, the protagonist, is trapped in game along with ten thousand other players. This anime has an engaging plot in the first season, but slowly loses its grip. However it is a visual treat to our eyes with flawless animation. It has two seasons of 24 and 26 episodes respectively. The Third season is scheduled to air in October 2018.

9. Boku Dake ga inai Machi (2016)
Satoru Fujinuma possesses a remarkable ability known as “Revival” in which he is sent back in time to prevent any mishappening that threatens the lives of people. Mostly he is sent back 5 minutes prior the incident. But when someone very close to him dies, he is sent back 18 years in the past to prevent a kidnapping that is connected to the murder. This anime has a poetic essence to it. It is excellently directed. You will sympathize with characters and you will hate some of them. For this, I would recommend to read the manga as well because both anime and manga have different endings.

8. Parasyte (2014)
Next is ‘Parasyte’, which is an anime whose main character and his resolve is quite similar to that of ‘Blue Exorcist’s’ Rin Okumura. The plot starts when parasitic aliens start entering human bodies through nose and mouth. The parasites then start taking control over humanity slowly. One such alien tries to enter into Shinichi Izumi’s ear but since he was wearing earphones, it affects his hand instead. This provides Shinichi with a certain power which he then uses to fight the aliens. He joins with the alien ‘Migi’, who has its own mind, in his adventure.

7. Knights of Sidonia (2014- )
Once again, humanity fights for its very existence, but this time in space! Massive space ships are humanities last remaining sanctuaries – and they aren’t at all unlike the walled territories in Attack on Titan. A small squad of soldiers fight to hold off humanity’s impending doom. Earth is gone, destroyed by aliens. Humanity is struggling for survival and fleeing across the galaxy. An unlikely hero, outcast from the rest of humanity living in the bowels of what was left of their society, is unwittingly thrown into the middle of events he doesn’t understand. Before long, Tanikaze finds himself among the ranks of humanities last defenders, desperately trying to prevent their extinction at the hands of the Gauna.

6. Inuyashiki (2018)
Inuyashiki is the story of a 58-year-old man named Ichirou Inuyashiki, who is having a tough time living with his wife and children. Things get worse when it is discovered that he has stomach cancer, and would survive not more than three months. Dearly broken due to cancer and family’s disinterest, he one day runs off into a field and weeps with his dog. Just before an explosion, he notices a stranger looking at him. After the dust settles, he finds himself reborn as a mechanized weapon wearing the skin of his former self. There begins his journey of kindness and ridding the world from evil.

5. Code Geass (2006)
With so many strategies and plans, Code Geass is probably the best option for the genre lovers. Besides that, the anime scenes in this anime is very similar to Tokyo Ghoul. The anime follows Lelouch, who becomes involved in a terrorist attack and finds a mysterious girl called C.C. (C2), who saves his life from the Britannian Royal Guard, by making a contract with him and granting him a power known as Geass. With that, he plans to overthrow the Britannia that has overtaken Japan, and renamed it Area 11. Lelouch’s struggle to free Japan is similar to Kaneki’s struggle to make humans and ghouls co-exist.

4. Dragon Ball Series (1986-)
‘Dragon Ball series’ has to be on the list. Both Noragami and Dragon Ball are similar in their plotline. Here we have a kid named Goku who sets out on an adventure with Bulma, daughter of an inventor. Bulma met Goku when searching for the famed dragon balls. Goku owned one of those. Goku joins Bulma in her search in hopes of becoming stronger and Bulma, well…. She got a bodyguard. As the show progresses we see how complex and intense the plot starts becoming, though I personally kinda liked the kid Goku series. The series has been widely popular with anime lovers as it is filled with intense action. If you are into power levels and peoples upgrading to stronger people, then this is for you.

3. Steins; Gate (2011-15)
This is an anime in which the line between past and the present blurs, in other words it involves time travel. Based on a video game of the same name, it follows a self-proclaimed scientist Rintarou Okabe who is in search of a scientific breakthrough and accidentally stumbles upon the mysterious concept of time travel. The series has received highly positive reviews. This one exceeds all expectation of a sci-fi (or thriller) anime and will keep you hooked from the first episode. A sequel Steins;Gate 0 began airing in April 2018 which was also received positively by the audience.

2. Attack on Titan (2013)
I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Attack on Titan’ because of its characters and great concept. Here we follow the story of Eren Yeager who after witnessing the death of his mother at the hands of a titan, humongous monstrous creatures with a hunger for human flesh, swore to kill every titan on earth. Little did he know that he is one of the rare humans who have the ability to transform themselves into titans. This is where we find similarity between Rin and Eren. With this revelation, people start suspecting Eren and want to kill him. Will he be able to gain their trust and defeat the Titans?

1. Naruto (2002)
Coming up next on the list is probably one of the most popular anime of our generation, ‘Naruto’. It is the story of a boy who has the spirit of Nine-tailed Fox, a monster, stored within him. Naruto aspires to become one of the greatest ninja and Hokage of his village.
