Kevin Hart is teaming up with STXfilms for a superhero comedy titled ‘Night Wolf’. Hart is set to produce and star in the upcoming movie. It is based on a pitch that STXfilms acquired from Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, the brains behind ‘Detective Pokemon Pikachu‘. The story revolves around a man, played by Hart, who meets his future father in law, only to discover that he is actually the superhero known as the Night Wolf.

Hart’s HartBeat Productions is handling and overseeing the project along with Drew Simon, the senior vice president of production of STXfilms. Notably, ‘Night Wolf’ is not the first project on which Kevin Hart has collaborated with STXfilms. The studio released Hart’s comedy-drama ‘The Upside’ earlier in 2019. HartBeat Productions also has a busy schedule ahead as it was previously announced that two new comedy projects are under development. One of them is a body-switching comedy called ‘Black Friday’, while the other is an untitled international romantic comedy. They are both being made in collaboration with STX.

Adam Fogelson, the chairman of STX spoke about acquiring the upcoming movie, saying, “After we acquired ‘Night Wolf’, we submitted it to Kevin Hart and the team at HartBeat, hoping they would love it as much as we did. It is a big, broad comedy, and the idea is great fun and perfectly matched with Kevin’s comedic talent”. Kevin Hart added to this, saying, “I instantly fell in love with this pitch about an everyday guy who is meeting his in-laws for the first time and unwittingly discovers his [father-in-law]-to-be is secretly a superhero.”

As for STX, they have several projects coming up, among which is ‘Hustlers’, due to be released on September 13, 2019. The movie is also debuting at TIFF. Other films include ‘Countdown’, slated to be released on October 25, 2019, ’21 Bridges’, due to be released on November 22, 2019, ‘Playmobil’, which is slated to be released on December 6, 2019, ‘Brahms: The Boy II’, also slated to be released on the same date, ‘My Spy’, which is due to hit the screens on January 10, 2020, and Guy Ritchie’s crime comedy movie ‘The Gentlemen’, which is going to release on January 24, 2020.

Hart was last seen in ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw‘ where he had an uncredited role as an Air Marshall desperate for a taste of action. He will next be seen in ‘Jumanji: The Next Level‘ which also stars Dwayne Johnson. Notably, Hart is still filming ‘Fatherhood’, another upcoming project on his plate that is scheduled for a 2020 release.
