Starring names such as Jim ‘Sheldon Cooper’ Parsons, Steve ‘Pink Panther’ Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna in the lead, ‘Home’ was a movie, which followed the story of a misfit alien, from the Boov race, called Oh and his escapades on Earth. When Gorg is out to destroy the Boovs’ planet, they invade the Earth to settle here and call it their home. Oh, an outcast initially, goes out of his way to help an earthling Tip Tucci to find her mom; but do they succeed? The answer is a revelation!

5. Ratatouille (2007)

When life gives you a rat, make ‘Ratatouille’; which is probably why the Disney mascot inspired filmmakers to make the film! ‘Ratatouille’ is the story of Remy, a Parisian rat with a heightened sense of smell and taste, who aspires to be a chef someday. Remy befriends Linguini, an inept garbage boy at his culinary hero’s restaurant and helps him prepare the best dish in town, eventually finding out what he wanted to do with life. The Oscar-winning film was very enjoyable and its graphics were a treat to the eyes.

4. Rio (2011)

As the only bird remaining in the world from the Spix macaw species, Blu, a Brazilian native has grown up in the company of his human Linda in America, becoming quite like her in the process. As Blu is enroute to Rio to mate with the only female – he and Jewel get into troubles and the story then portrays how a free-spirited Jewel helps an unskilled Blu to spread his wings. Rio was visually spectacular and like ‘Bolt’, was a story of discovering one’s true identity.

3. Kung Fu Panda (2008)

‘Kung Fu Panda’ was one of the rarest DreamWorks films, the magic of which still hasn’t faded. The film narrates the story of an incompetent panda – Po, who eats, sleeps and dreams kung fu, only to be entrusted upon with the most difficult responsibility of saving his kingdom. How an amateurish Po then filled with awesomeness, goes on to find the true meaning of life and fight Tai Lung, forms the climax of the film, making Po and the Furious Five some of the most loved characters in the history of animated movies.

2. Happy Feet (2006)

When Memphis and Norma Jean’s son Mumble is born to tap dance instead of sing like the other emperor penguins do, he runs away to a faraway land to join the Amigos and show them his moves and be a part of their clan. ‘Happy Feet’ depicted the heart-touching story of emperor penguins and how their habitat was being destroyed by human expeditions, along with Mumble going on to tap his true potential towards the end, which brought home an Academy and a BAFTA for its success.

If you don’t get credit for any good deed you do, become a bad guy instead! This is what ‘Megamind’ seemed to preach, but with a difference. Contrary to what animated films usually harp on, ‘Megamind’ is the story of a meanie, who kills the good guy only to realize later that he is left with no purpose in life and to find its true meaning and the purpose of him being sent to earth, does some soul-searching. The film was greatly lauded for it strong visual appeal and the performances of the cast member which included Brad Pitt, Will Farell, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill.
