Rosario + Vampire Season 3: Premiere Date, Characters, Plot

Rosario + Vampire (also known as Rozario to Banpaia in Japanese) is a comedy anime television series which is based on a manga series of the same name. Written and illustrated by Akihisa Ikeda, the manga series was first published on July 6, 2004. A few years later, a Japanese anime studio called Gonzo decided to adapt the manga series into an anime television series, and Season 1 of Rosario + Vampire premiered on January 3, 2008.

Season 1 was an immediate hit among fans of the manga series and new viewers alike, and unsurprisingly, the show was renewed for a second season without wasting any time. Subsequently, Season 2 of the show was released on October 2, 2008, and since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for news on a third season. Here’s everything we know about the prospects of Season 3 thus far.

Rosario Vampire Season 3 Release Date: When will it premiere?

Rosario Vampire season 2 premiered on October 2, 2008 and ran till December 25 that year. Despite demands for a third season, Season 3 of the show is yet to be announced and the chances of a third season materializing is looking more unlikely by the day.

Firstly, anime television series are usually renewed within a period of five years, and a renewal after more than a decade is almost unheard of. Secondly, the manga series itself finished in 2014, so there’s no new source material coming out. Given these two facts, we think that Season 3 of Rosario Vampire has little to no chance of being made. That being said, we can’t say anything for sure till an official announcement is made on the future of the show. We’re keeping our ears open for news on Season 3 of Rosario + Vampire and we’ll update this section as soon as we hear something reliable. If at all, the anime is renewed, we will let you know about Rosario Vampire season 3 release date.

Rosario + Vampire Plot:

The show revolves around a seemingly normal boarding school called Youkai Academy and its students. Although the school appears to be just like any other boarding school, all its pupils are monsters who are learning to coexist with humans. These monsters attend school in human form, and study human subjects such as literature, art, and math. Yet, the Youkai Academy has a strict rule – any human found on campus is to be executed immediately.

In this backdrop, the show follows a boy called Tsukune Aono. An average teenager with not much interest in studies, Tsukune fails to secure admission in any prestigious high school because of his bad grades. As a last-ditch effort to give Tsukune an education, his parents enroll him at the Youkai Academy, completely unaware of the real nature of the school and its students. Tsukune, too, has no idea, so he joins the Youkai Academy willingly.

However, Tsukune soon figures out that the Youkai Academy is a school for monsters, and just as he is about to give his resignation and leave, he encounters the most beautiful girl in the school, Moka Akashiya. Tsukune becomes completely infatuated with Moka, and in his desperation to get into a relationship with her, he decides to stay on at the Youkai Academy despite the risks. However, unbeknownst to Tsukune is the fact that Moka is actually a vampire. Things get even more complicated for the teenager when he finds out that all humans on campus are to be executed. Tsukune thus has to find a way to conceal his identity and survive high school as he looks to get close to Moka.

As the show progresses, Tsukune gets used to his new and dangerous life, and even manages to attract a bunch of girls, who all want him to themselves. Tsukune’s admirers in school include not just Moka, but a sexy succubus called Kurumu Kurono, a witch called Yukari Sendou, and a spirit called Mizore Shirayuki. However, things soon get complicated for Tsukune and everyone else in the school when Moka’s younger sister, Kokoa Shuzen, arrives. Furious at Moka’s kind side, Kokoa tries to unleash her dark, vampire side, leading to many complications.

Rosario + Vampire Characters:

Rosario + Vampire has dozens of characters, and a handful of them are the main characters in the show. Below, we’ve given you brief descriptions of the characters who are central to the show.

[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD]

Tsukune Aono: The main male protagonist of the show, Tsukune is an ordinary human teenager who finds himself in an extraordinary situation. Having failed all his entrance exams, and having neglected his studies for long, Tsukune finds it difficult to get into a high school. However, in a last ditch effort, Tsukune’s parents manage to enroll him at the Youkai Academy, being completely oblivious about the true nature of the school and its students. Once Tsukune joins the school, he finds himself to be infatuated by a vampire called Moka Akashiya, and despite the risks of studying in Youkai Academy, he decides to stay. As the show progresses, Tsukune not only manages to get close to Moka, but he also attracts the interest of other monsters who study in the school. As far as Tsukune’s personality is concerned, he is considerate, polite, and has a selfless tendency to throw himself into danger to save his friends.

Moka Akashiya: The main female protagonist of the show, Moka is a vampire studying at the Youkai Academy. While Moka comes off as a kind and sweet girl, it is revealed that she has two sides to herself – her kind nature on one hand, and her dark, super vampire nature on the other. The only thing which keeps Moka from turning into a super vampire is the rosary she wears around her neck. When Moka wears the rosary, it keeps her vampire side sealed, making her a sweet and kind person. However, if the rosary is removed, Moka takes her true form, transforming into a super vampire. An extremely attractive girl, Moka is the center of attention in the school and is known to hate humans. However, after she gets close to Tsukune and learns about his true identity, she makes her peace with it.

Kurumu Kurono: Another main character in the show, Kurumu is a succubus who is often jealous of Moka and her popularity. Being a succubus, Kurumu is almost always trying to seduce Tsukune and the other male students in a bid to find her “mate of fate” and ensure the continuity of her dwindling species. However, everything said and done, Kurumu is shown to be a kind-hearted succubus.

Yukari Sendou: Also a main character in the show, Yukari is a witch who studies at the Youkai Academy. Despite her young age, she is shown to be the smartest person in school and she has a genius IQ. However, despite her IQ, she is rather childish when it comes to her interpersonal relations.

Mizore Shirayuki: A yuki-onna, Mizore is another main character in the show and has the same homeroom class as Tsukune and Moka. Mizore is shown to harbour feelings for Tsukune and often freezes other girls when she finds them in a compromising position with Tsukune.
