At the end of season 1 of ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga,’ the protagonists find themselves on the edge of a new beginning. After fighting for her stake at Macroscope, Wanda has finally resorted to playing dirty and doing whatever it takes to secure her path to success. With Darryl gone and Lamar and Artillery by her side, she has confidence that she can secure a good future for the artists, their talent, and, subsequently, her own career. Her cousin, Lamar, has also learned many important lessons about the dark underbelly of the music world.
Even though his ambitions aren’t in any way lessened, he has come to learn the importance of family and loyalty. Alternatively, Wanda and Leon lose these same values in their own relationship when the climactic debacle drags the latter back onto the dangerous streets. As such, there’s no denying that these characters still have a long way to go. However, at the time of writing, the future of the series remains up in the air with no confirmed season 2. In the event of a speedy renewal, ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’ could return with another season as early as 2028.
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga Season 2 Will Continue Exploring the Exploitative Nature of the Music Industry
In season 1, the storyline focuses on the various apprehensions that surround anyone’s involvement in LA’s music scene. After losing their own daughter to the brutal limelight, Mama G and Big Daddy are worried about their grandson ending up with the same fate. Likewise, they also have concerns about how Wanda would deal with being on the management side of the industry given her past with addiction. In many ways, Leon’s lack of support in his ex’s pursuits is also tied to similar reasons. Given the intersection between rap music, the rampant crime on the streets, and record labels’ unending greed, he is worried that the music will become a slippery slope back into the life of crime. In the end, all of these issues come to life in one way or another.

Even so, for now Wanda is able to rescue herself and her artists from the likes of Darryl and Jenny. Yet, if they want to continue putting music out into the world, they will inevitably have to partake in the dangerous behind-the-scenes game once again. Thus, if the show gets renewed, we can expect to see more of how Wanda navigates the music industry and what curveballs it throws her way. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Malcolm Spellman shared his plans for the series’ future. He said, “I think for season two and moving forward, what I want to get into gradually over, let’s call it season 2 and 3 because it’s moving very gradually, is the labels, manipulation, and destruction of our culture and our burden. How we allow gang culture and money and materialism to rot us from the inside, as far as conflict.”
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga Will Likely Bring Back Its Central Cast For Season 2
While ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’ sees the return of many existing characters from the franchise, it also introduces other new faces. Thus, season 1 serves as a foundation to set up these characters, both old and new, in their roles within the narrative. Consequently, if the show returns for another season, these key players are sure to return with it. Actors Gail Bean (Wanda Bell) and Isaiah John (Leon Simmons), who are at the nucleus of this spin-off, are sure to reprise their roles.

Additionally, other central cast members like Asante Blackk (Lamar), Peyton ‘Alex’ Smith (James), Buddy (Artillery), and Aleyse Shannon (Dara) will also likely return to the series. On the other hand, characters who play significant roles in the storylines of these characters can also be expected to be a part of a potential season 2. This would include Mykelti Williamson (Big Daddy) and Nicki Micheaux (Gerty). With Darryl removed from the board as a threat, the show will likely introduce new antagonistic characters. However, Isidora Goreshter could return as Jenny Favarella if Wanda’s story continues to orbit around the Macroscope record label.
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga Will Continue to Focus on Family in Season 2
Family and community are core parts of the central themes that are at the heart of the story in ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga.’ Throughout the season, we see Lamar in conflict with his family until he comes to understand the gravity of his mother’s past. Therefore, by the end of the season, he gains a newfound respect and commitment to his roots that he now wants to balance alongside his musical aspirations. On the other hand, Wanda burns just about every bridge as she tries to progress in her career. She stops vying for the approval of Mama G and Big Daddy, and her relationship with Leon also spirals out of control.

As the series moves into a potential season 2, all the complications and developments born from these relationships will likely take center stage. Consequently, even though Leon and Wanda’s relationship ends on a sour note in season 1, fans can expect it to continue growing and evolving as the series continues. At the beginning of the debut season, Leon was steadfastly against returning to his roots, sure that he could escape the violence that terrorizes his loved ones. Nonetheless, in the finale, he is inevitably forced to make a comeback to his old self. If his life continues to orbit around Wanda in the future, we can expect more such developments to take place for the character.
