‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ has a very predictable shounen story where the main protagonist sets out to avenge the murder of his family. It also has one of those typical shounen training arcs and almost nothing about it is out of the ordinary. But even then, the plot is pretty solid and as a viewer, it keeps you engaged throughout. Created by Studio Ufotable, which is also known for the epic long-running ‘Fate‘ franchise, the artwork is something that completely blows you away. The animation is crisp and fluid and almost every fight scene will get you hyped. Even the backgrounds are great and clearly, a lot of efforts have been put into detailing them.
Sung by LiSA, the opening and closing tracks are just perfect and even the background scores played during the fight scenes are truly unforgettable. While most of the characters, especially the protagonist, have typical shounen personalities, you can’t help but admire them. Overall, as generic as it may seem, ‘Kimetsu no Yaibi’ has everything from stunning visuals, to incredible soundtracks, to a captivating story. Experienced anime viewers will certainly have a good time watching it and even for those who are fairly new to the world of anime, this one can be the perfect gateway show.
Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ Season 1 premiered on April 6, 2019 and ended on September 28, 2019. ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ received stellar reviews and is already one of the best anime of 2019. Even the manga sales have drastically improved and for obvious reasons, fans are now demanding Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2.
The success of the anime show meant that immediately after season 1 ended, producers announced a sequel Demon Slayer movie, which is great news. Though, it also means that fans looking for a full new season might have to wait a little longer. We expect the Demon Slayer movie to release sometime in Q4 2020, and Demon Slayer season 2 to come out in 2022.

Kimetsu no Yaiba English Dub:
The English Dub of ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ has not been released yet. But Aniplex of America recently announced at its Anime Expo that the English Dub will soon premiere on Adult Swim. You can either patiently wait for that or you can watch the anime on Crunchyroll with its original Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Kimetsu no Yaiba Plot:
‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ revolves around a young boy named Tanjirou Kamado who struggles to support his family after his father’s death. Despite having a rather impoverished lifestyle, the Kamado family still lives a peaceful life far away from the noise of the city. As usual, to support his family, Tanjirou sets out to a local village one day to earn a little money by selling charcoal. But as he makes his way back home, it soon turns dark and he is forced to seek shelter at a mysterious man’s home. The man gravely warns him that flesh-eating demons lurk in the dark shadows of the forest around them.
Tanjirou decides to ignore the man but the grim reality hits him when he arrives home the next day and discovers that his entire family has been slaughtered. The only survivor is his little sister who has now turned into a terrifying demon. Enraged by the incident, he promises himself that he will seek revenge for all of it. He also makes sure that he’s able to stand by his younger demonic sister. With the help of a strange group that claims to be the “Demon Slayer Corps”, Tanjirou sets out to avenge the death of all his loved ones by slaying each demon one by one.
Kimetsu no Yaiba Characters:
Zenitsu Agatsuma
Zenitsu is a petite 16-year-old boy who is a member of the Demon Slaying Club. He often accompanies Tanjirou during his travels. He has blonde hair and golden eyes. He also wears a golden-colored haori jacket that matches his hair color. He is a coward and often claims that he won’t live too long because of his dangerous job. He has this habit of hitting on every cute girl that he sees and to their annoyance, he even asks them to marry him. His self-esteem is extremely low but he still tries his best to live up to the expectations that others have from him. He really wants to live a modest life where he can be of some help to his friends. But he usually gets really anxious and even abandons his team when he’s terrified.
Inosuke Hashibira
Inosuke is another Demon at the Demon Slaying Corps who travels with Tanjirou. He usually sports a grey boar mask and never really wears a shirt. His real face has feminine features and his body is significantly ripped and muscular. Inosuke is short-tempered and even the smallest things are enough to trigger him. He does not think about the power difference between him and his opponents and just lashes out on anyone who tries to bother him. He grew up in the mountains all by himself and because of this, he has never been able to get along with anyone. He only cares about himself and only makes meaningful conversations with others when it’s absolutely necessary.
Nezuko Kamado
Nezuko Kamado is Tanjirou’s younger sister who is turned into a demon by Muzan Kinutsuji. When she was a human, she used to tie up her long black hair but now as a demon, she hangs them loose which makes her appearance even more terrifying. She wears a pink-colored kimono and always has a piece of bamboo in her mouth which is bound by a red tie. Just like Tanjirou, she used to be a very responsible sibling and always cared for the ones around her. Even as a demon, though she has lost most of her memories, she is kind to other humans and genuinely cares for them. As a demon, she is expected to crave human flesh and blood but she still shows immense will power and resists all of her demonic urges.
Tanjirou Kamado
Tanjirou Kamado is the main protagonist of the series who later becomes a prominent member of the Demon Slaying Corps. After his entire family is murdered and his younger sister is turned into a demon, he takes it upon himself to seek revenge from those who ruined his life. He has maroonish hair and black eyes with a birthmark on the left corner of his forehead. He is very kind to the people he truly cares for and willing to do anything for them. He has a lot of determination and when he sets his eyes on a certain goal, he makes sure that he achieves it no matter what the situation is. But his ability to empathize, even with the demons, often makes it hard for him to kill them.
When it comes to his abilities, he has a heightened sense of smell that allows him to smell the approximate position of his enemies during combat. He can also smell emotions of humans, demons and animals and can use this for tracking them over long distances. His fighting style is fairly unique compared to the other characters of the show, as instead of directly getting into battle and lashing out on his opponents, he strategically plans all of his moves. Later, after intense training, he also develops enhanced strength which allows him to jump twice the height of an average human.
Taught to him by Sakonji, the “Breath of Water” is a move where the user is supposed to follow a breathing pattern to control the use of oxygen in his/her blood. This significantly improves strength and agility. Tanjirou learns to properly control his breath which not only improves his overall strength but also helps him last longer in a battle against demons. With this enhanced strength and the ability to smell the “line of interval”, he has developed ten unique fighting moves.
