One Punch Man Season 2 Specials: Premiere Date, Plot, Characters

If you still remember that feeling of excitement that typical shounen anime like ‘Pokemon‘ and ‘Dragon Ball Z‘ gave you, be warned as ‘One Punch Man‘ can easily evoke similar feelings no matter what your age is. The anime follows a rather simple story where an overpowered superhero saves the day but suffers from an existential crisis. But what makes this anime enjoyable is its incredibly entertaining action scenes. The outcome of all of these fight scenes is rather predictable but their sound, animation style and choreography are perfect. ‘One Punch Man‘ is just pure entertainment.

One Punch Man Season 2 Specials Plot:

Set in a world that is full of wannabe superheroes and gruesome supervillains, Saitama stands out because for years, he has trained so hard that now he can knock out even the strongest enemies with one single punch. But in a world where being a hero means nothing, he still feels empty, worthless and is quite laid back about everything that’s going on around him. He finds the whole idea of being a superhero quite pointless and to add to his miseries, because of his intense training, he has lost all of his hair. So ‘One Punch Man’ is a tale of the adventures, or should I say misadventures, of an extraordinary yet ordinary hero.

One Punch Man Season 2 Specials Characters:

Saitama

Saitama, also known as the “One Punch Man”, is the main character of the series who hates his life as a superhero because, as his name suggests, he is able to defeat all of his enemies with one single punch. In City Z, he lives in his own small apartment and prior to becoming the superhero, he used to be an average salaryman. But after his encounter with a giant crab man, he went through some intense training which involved 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats and a 10K run on a daily basis. This training made him freakishly strong but unfortunately, he ends up losing all of his hair because of it. He claims that he became a superhero for the fun of it but now just hates his life because he has become so strong that none of his opponents can stand against his punches.

Despite being really strong, when Saitama enters the Hero Association, he is given a C-class because of his poor written test scores. He later tries to prove his worth by doing some heroic deeds but because of all the collateral damage that he causes, most of his work goes unrecognized. For the most part of the anime, Saitama has been intentionally drawn with a very simplistic style to create a contrast between him and other characters. During battles, his art again changes and he appears to be more vascular and aesthetic which goes well with his “action-oriented” persona. He wears a yellow colored jumpsuit as his costume, which is complimented with red boots and a huge white cap. His superhero existential crisis is the main source of comic relief in the series.

Genos

Genos is a 19-year-old cyborg who initially tries to challenge Saitama, only to realise how strong he is. He then decides to become his disciple and follows everything he is asked to do. Unlike Saitama, Genos does really well in both written and physical tests and is easily able to become an S-class hero — the highest rank at the Hero Association. He has a mechanical body with the face of a teenage boy. He has blond hair with deep yellow eyes and always wears black pants with black boots over his mechanical body. While Saitama often fools around, Genos is a very serious character who works really hard. He is extremely determined to become stronger than Saitama and is willing to do absolutely anything to achieve his goal.
