Fall 2: Deadpoint Plot Synopsis
Shiloh Hunter’s death leaves her younger sister, Jax, lonely and frozen in her grief. In an attempt to move forward in life, she puts her sister’s truck on sale. Since she isn’t willing to sell it to any of the hundreds of Shiloh superfans that have popped up across the globe since the tragedy, the truck ends up going to Luce, an old friend of her sister’s. When the latter visits to pick up the vehicle, she discovers the deceased’s journal inside, which contains her fuck-it list, a bucket list full of thrilling locations. Jax tries to pass off the sentimental item to the other woman, but the latter has a different opinion. She thinks that the best way to honor Shiloh’s memory and work through her loss is by undertaking one of the adventures from her journal. In fact, Luce herself is planning on traveling to Thailand to climb Mount Kwan, which houses a fear-eating dragon statue.

As a result, Luce encourages Jax to accompany her on this trip. Even though she’s reluctant, the other accepts the offer and the two fly out to Thailand. Shiloh’s journal, which contains extensive research, leads them to High Spirits, a secluded bar, where they can presumably find a tour guide. The girls want to visit the Western peak, which has been closed off to tourists for three decades because of the dangerous route. Therefore, their only hope is to rely on a shady guide. Eventually, they’re able to find this guide, Jon, whose rate is higher than the duo had been expecting. Still, Luce agrees to foot the bill, unwilling to turn away after coming so far. The next morning, the three climbers set off on their journey. At first, they have to climb a dubious ladder built onto the side of the mountain. Jon teaches the girls to remain tethered to the safety rope, which later saves their lives on multiple occasions.
Afterward, the trio arrives at a plank they must cross to continue their climb. The ancient, rarely renovated walkway already presents a threat, but a new one shows up when, halfway through, they realize some of the safety rope is missing. Nonetheless, Luce showcases a fearless streak by freestyling the breadth of steps needed to cover the distance, then extending her own rope as a safety rail afterward. Unfortunately, things soon worsen further when heavy rain begins pouring and triggers a massive rockslide. Although Luce and Jax are able to avoid the falling debris by backtracking, Jon seemingly falls victim to it. With the path forward firmly destroyed, the girls have no choice but to go back, in the hopes of escaping the mountain the same way they came. However, another rockslide destroys even more of the plank, leaving the two stranded at the Devil’s Elbow.

Although they’re able to call for help using Jax’s phone, it proves futile since neither can speak Thai. On the other hand, their radio, which they can use to contact anyone else, is in their backpacks, which are hanging from the support beams that have stayed behind after the plank’s destruction. On the first night, they attempt to draw patrons’ attention at High Spirits with a long-distance laser pointer, but remain unsuccessful. Things take another dark turn when Jax watches the old videos stored on her sister’s camera and realizes that Luce has actually been lying about her identity the entire time, which creates a tense drift between the two. The next morning, Luce tries to cross the impossible bridge to reach the radio, on which Jon, who apparently survived, has been trying to contact them. Nonetheless, her attempt is futile and nearly leads her to her death. In the end, Jax decides to make the same attempt and succeeds, allowing the girls to finally reach out to Jon.
Fall 2 Deadpoint Ending: Who Sent Becky the Letter? What Does it Mean?
Even though most of the film takes place in Thailand, the ending brings the narrative back to the States. Becky Connor, the only surviving protagonist of the first film ‘Fall,’ is on the front porch of her home, where she receives something in her mailbox. The mail contains an invitation to a memorial for the death of her friend, Shiloh Hunter. Fans of the first installment will remember that Becky and Shiloh undertook the final adventure, during which the latter ultimately died. Many complicated emotions existed between the two friends in the lead-up to this tragedy, especially in light of the revelation that Shiloh had an affair with Becky’s dead husband shortly before her best friend got married to him. However, the sequel reveals another point of contention.

As it turns out, when Shiloh agreed to go climb the B-67 TV Tower with Becky, she was originally supposed to be with her sister, Jax. Yet, she canceled on these existing plans to be there for her best friend. The fact that she ends up dying on this same trip has created some feelings of resentment for Jax, who feels like she only had second-place priority in her older sister’s life. Alternatively, similar to Becky, she also has reasons to feel guilty about the nature of the climber’s death. A while before Shiloh took the fateful climb, she and Jax went skydiving. The former tried to assuage her sister’s fears by jumping off the plane earlier without a proper countdown. However, this only resulted in Jax passing out momentarily.
In the aftermath, the two sisters had a huge fight where Jax told her older sister to “drop dead.” Therefore, both Becky and Jax retain many complicated feelings about Shiloh and her untimely passing. So far, the latter has been running away from her grief, attempting to make it disappear by hiding from it. Her friendship with Luce and the near-death adventure at Mount Kwan opened her eyes to certain truths about living life free of fear. Therefore, it’s possible that when Jax sends the invitation to Becky, she truly only wants to pay respect to her sister’s memory with a dangerous climb to Hell’s Chasm. On the other hand, the possibility that she wants to confront Becky about the incident at the TV Tower also remains.
Does Jax Survive? What Happens to Jon?
After Jon arrives to rescue the girls, a new aspect of his identity is revealed. The tour guide is a non-native who came to Thailand eight years ago with his fiancée. Although she returned home, he never did. Instead, he settled down in the country and set up shop as an illegal tour guide who gets climbers through the Deth Dragon route to take them to the Western peak. The entire endeavor is dangerous, and the climbers run the risk of being caught by the police for it. Therefore, Jon’s prices remain up. However, Luce and Jax discover that he has another avenue of similarly dubious income. After the guide rescues them from the Devil’s Elbow, they take another route to travel to a clearing where he has arranged for a helicopter to rescue them.

On the way there, Luce discovers that one of the O2 tanks that Jon gave them actually contains drugs inside. Thus, the entire truth reveals itself. The guide is actually using his customers as mules who unwittingly help him smuggle drugs across the border with the illegal climb as a cover. In the face of this discovery, an altercation follows between him and the girls. In the end, Jax refuses to play along with his game, which makes her a target. Nonetheless, she comes up with a plan to lure him out to the shaky plank bridge, which crumbles under their shared weight. While she had taken the precaution to clip into the structure, Jon had not. As such, he falls to his death. Afterward, Jax makes it to the clearing with the smuggled fentanyl in her possession. She uses it as currency to book a one-way flight out of the mountains aboard the criminal helicopter.
Does Billie Die? Why Did She Lie About Her Identity?
Billie harbors a big secret throughout the majority of the story. In the beginning, she introduces herself to Jax as a friend of her old sister, Shiloh. Nonetheless, on their first night stranded at Mount Kwan, the latter learns that this is a lie. She goes through her sister’s camera footage, which includes the real Luce. As such, a confrontation follows in which the other climber finally reveals the truth. As it turns out, Luce is actually Billie. She is a fan of Shiloh’s content and insists that her work saved her life and gave her the inspiration to move forward from her own personal baggage. Billie has been diagnosed with cancer, which is likely terminal. Although she puts herself through extensive treatment, she has now decided to abandon it in favor of living out the last of her days, embracing the thrill of adventure.

Shiloh’s work helped her make this change in her life. Therefore, when she found out that her truck was going on sale, she wanted to acquire the vehicle to feel close to the deceased climber and embark on her own adventures with it. Naturally, Jax’s no-fans rule threw a wrench in her plans. For the same reason, Billie decided to pose as Luce, Shiloh’s friend, taking a risk that the younger sister wouldn’t be able to recognize her. Since the latter never saw any of Shiloh’s online content, the other luckily breezes past. Yet, instead of simply ending their contact after the sale of the truck, Billie accidentally befriends Jax, recognizing her hurt and wanting to help. Although she is initially hurt by the lies, the younger Hunter sister understands Billie’s motives. Tragically, the latter dies shortly after Jon’s real motives come to light. Disgusted by his actions, Billie throws his drugs off the cliff. In turn, the guide pushes her off the cliff, sending her to her unfortunate death.
