The most inspiring stories are the ones where we see a character fall deep into the darkest point in his/her life and from there, this character tries to get back up. In this journey of revival, there is rage, bitterness and also a whole lot of insecurities but giving up is not an option. ‘Pandora Hearts’ beautifully captures one such journey of a character with the most refreshingly lovable cast and an extremely detailed world very similar to that of ‘Alice in Wonderland‘. Throughout its span of 25 episodes, it does have fillers but even those are perfectly placed and the entire pacing of the anime is perfect.
Overall, ‘Pandora Hearts’ is an anime that offers everything including drama, action, humor and even some romance and all of this, with a compelling story, a beautiful fantasy world, and some remarkable soundtracks. And though the animation fails to reach the standards of today, once you immerse yourself in its charming little world of magic, you can’t help but admire almost everything that it offers. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has even the slightest interest in fantasy based anime.
Pandora Hearts Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
‘Pandora Hearts’ Season 1 premiered on April 3, 2009 and ran till September 25, 2009. Considering the popularity of the anime and also its above average rating, the chances of getting a new season seemed really high. But for some reason, the creators of the manga ended it prematurely. Nine special episodes of the anime were also released from July 24, 2009 to March 25, 2010 but these were not exactly related to Season 1 and followed more of a side story. After not hearing anything regarding its renewal for a long time, many fans even started coming up with online petitions to request a new season. But clearly, that approach has not worked.
It has been almost a whole decade now since the release of its Season 1 and now, it seems very less likely that the creators will even think about it. The anime was not entirely loyal to its source material, so there is a possibility that sometime in the future, the creators might think of making a whole new version of the anime that adapts the entire story of the manga itself; pretty much like ‘Fruits Basket‘ and ‘Fullmetal Alchemist‘. As of now, most factors are not in favor of the anime but even then, if we receive any updates regarding a ‘Pandora Hearts’ Season 2 release date, we will surely update it in this section.

Pandora Hearts Plot:
‘Pandora Hearts’ is based on a supernatural manga that goes by the same name and revolves around the life of the 15-year-old named Oz Vessalius who is the heir of the Vessalius Duke House. Since his childhood, he has been hearing folktales about the dark world of the Abyss but he always dismissed them as tools to scare children. But then one day, everything changes when on his coming-of-age ceremony, the infamous Baskerville Clan interrupts and threatens him that they will throw him in the perilous world of the Abyss. This is when he realizes that his luxurious life will never be the same again and now, he will have to spend the rest of his life fighting off the monstrous “Chains” and other demonic creatures that lurk in the Abyss. He is now forced to believe that his childhood folktale is actually very real.
After his entire life turns upside down, Oz starts to question the meaning of his existence. But then along the way, he is accompanied by a chain named Alice, who is nicknamed “Bloodstained Black Rabbit” and he also runs into the members of a secret organization that goes by the name “Pandora”. Soon after exploring the depths of the Abyss along with his new found friends, things finally start making sense to him and his life gets a new meaning.
Pandora Hearts Characters:
Alice
Alice was born one hundred years ago as a child of the Baskerville Clan. Before being sent to the Abyss, her age was approximately accelerated to 12. She is known to be the “Bloodstained Black Rabbit” but later, it is revealed that there is a lot more to the title than what meets the eye. In her human form, she has purple eyes and long black hair tied up in plaits with chains at the end. Physically, she is more like a 14-year-old girl and when she reaches her released form, she appears to be a black rabbit with sharp fangs and red pupils.
Her main goal is to find lost memories and that is the only major thing she strives to do in the entire story. She is often very clumsy, cold and reckless towards everything in life. She also has a short temper and acts really aggressive at times. But despite this, she also has a very soft side which is revealed when she is around Oz. She has a strong set of values and beliefs that she holds on to till the end.
Xerxes Break
Xerxes Break is one of the most powerful characters of Pandora and is also the legal contractor of Mad Hatter. He has short white hair with wine red eyes and over the years, his appearance has not changed much. He loves hogging on food, especially on sweets and cakes. He is always seen with a doll sitting on his shoulder, which he calls Emily. He carries his sword around, disguised as a cane and only reveals its true nature when necessary. He is seen as a character who is all carefree and never breaks a sweat over petty things. He walks around with a smile on his face and never seems to get angry or stressed out. But some of the dark memories of his past lurk inside him and still creep to the surface at times.
Gilbert Nightray
Gilbert Nigthray is commonly known as Raven in Pandora after he is able to form a legal contract with The Raven. He has black hair and purposely keeps them unkempt and messy. He is one of the tallest characters in the show, standing close to 6 feet and does not have a left arm. He is really terrified of cats and happens to be an amazing cook. He is Oz’s servant and though Oz keeps picking on him, Gilbert never takes any of it seriously and remains loyal to him.
Oz Vessalius
Oz is the main protagonist of the show who wishes to uncover the reason why he was dropped into the Abyss. Initially, when he was sent to the Abyss, he appeared as a pair of Rabbit Dolls, being completely black in color with red eyes and a small slit for a mouth. He was initially very emotionless and viewed the world around him with no feelings at all. But later, in the Abyss, he realizes the true value of relationships when he spends more time with Alice and even falls for her.
