Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, ‘The End of Oak Street’ is a survivor thriller movie that follows the Platt family — Denise, Greg, and their two children, Audrey and Brian — as they lead a quiet life in a suburban neighborhood on Oak Street. However, everything turns upside down when Oak Street is teleported to an unknown neighborhood by a mysterious cosmic event. As the family of four navigates their new, unrecognizable surroundings, they find themselves getting chased by prehistoric creatures and noticing other bizarre events. The Platts must set their complicated family dynamics aside and work together to survive the unknown perils of the new neighborhood. Starring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery, the dinosaur action–adventure film is set in 1982 in a fictional Michigan suburb that becomes home to new perils for the Platts.

Metro Atlanta, Georgia
Although ‘The End of Oak Street’ is set in Michigan, it is mainly filmed in Metro Atlanta. To be specific, several neighborhoods and streets in the city of Atlanta served as prominent production locations, doubling as Oak Street for the movie. For instance, the neighborhood of Wisteria Gardens in Southwest Atlanta was transformed into a film set to lens many pivotal sequences. From the looks of it, Erin Avenue Southwest and Westwood Avenue Southwest feature as Oak Street in multiple scenes. Furthermore, the cast and crew members were seemingly spotted taping key portions in the area around Dover Boulevard Southwest and Howell Drive Southwest. The filming unit of ‘The End of Oak Street’ also traveled out of Atlanta to the city of Decatur, where they utilized the amenities of Electric Owl Studios.
Located at 3963 Redan Road, the film studio is home to six purpose-built sound stages, three mills spread across 65,000 square feet, 50,000 square feet of production office space, fitting rooms, green rooms, and many on-site amenities, making it a favorable filming destination for all kinds of projects. During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the director David Robert Mitchell talked about how he and his team added creativity to the visuals. He explained, “I’m a huge (Brian) De Palma fan, and I love a split diopter shot. We put a ton of love into the moments of suspense and trying to have a really interesting visual language for the movie… We would spend hours working with the storyboard artists, planning the sequences, trying to do something interesting and unique.”
London, England
For the purpose of shooting, the production team of ‘The End of Oak Street’ reportedly also made the most of London’s landscape and facilities. The capital of the United Kingdom and England is known for many iconic landmarks and buildings, including the London Eye, Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and more, some of which might feature in the David Robert Mitchell directorial. In an interview with The Telegraph India, Anne Hathaway revealed that she and her co-actor Ewan McGregor found themselves running for multiple sequences several times.
She said, “We both kind of were very professional for about eight takes. After the eighth take, Ewan turns to me, and he was like Anybody tell you there would be so much running! And I said no.” In the same interview, McGregor revealed that several of the dinosaur sequences were shot using practical effects with performers in Lycra suits carrying sticks. In one of the sequences, he also accidentally dented a dinosaur’s head with a baseball bat.
