Wagner Moura (‘The Secret Agent’ and ‘Narcos‘) and Greta Lee (‘Past Lives‘ and ‘The Studio’) feature as a suburban couple, Jason and Riley, with two kids — a son and a daughter — in Netflix’s ‘The Last House.’ The ordinary life of the family of four turns upside down when they find themselves trapped in their house indefinitely, for reasons unknown. Their efforts to shatter the windows or break open the doors go to waste, as there seems to be no way of getting out.
As Jason and Riley try to survive and search for answers by interacting with their neighbors, days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months. With their resources running low, the family must confront the mysterious threat that has trapped them within the four walls of their home. Helmed by Louis Leterrier, the suspenseful science fiction thriller movie is primarily set inside Jason and Riley’s home as some dark, mysterious forces take over the neighborhood and turn their safe haven into the stuff of nightmares.
The Last House Filming Locations
‘The Last House’ was filmed in its entirety in England, especially in London and Surrey. According to reports, principal photography for the Wagner Moura starrer commenced in April 2025 under the working title ‘11817’ and went on for a few months before wrapping up in June of the same year. Noah Alexander Sosnowski, who portrays Jason and Riley’s son, shared a few words of gratitude on social media during the shooting process. He said, “So excited to be part of this wild and mysterious ride. Grateful to work with such an amazing cast and crew on 11817.”
Surrey, England
Most of the pivotal sequences for ‘The Last House’ were lensed in the ceremonial county of Surrey, located in Southeast England. The production team utilized the amenities and facilities of the Shepperton Studios on Studios Road in Shepperton to shoot the indoor scenes involving Jason and Riley’s home. They seemingly set up camp on a sound stage or two and constructed the house’s interiors, allowing the makers greater control over the environment and space. Considered the second biggest film studio in the world, it is home to 31 sound stages, 12 acres of backlot area, workshops, and production offices. It also consists of numerous lot locations, such as Littleton Gardens, Littleton House, River Ash, Boardrooms, and more.
London, England
Minor portions for the Louis Leterrier directorial also took place in and around the capital of England and the United Kingdom — London. In the establishing shots, you are likely to spot a few popular buildings and landmarks, including Tower Bridge, the River Thames, the Shard, the London Eye, the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Apart from ‘The Last House,’ London has served as a production location for many movies and TV shows, such as ‘Pressure,’ ‘Casino Royale,’ ‘Blade Runner,’ ‘A Quiet Place: Day One,’ ‘Eyes Wide Shut,’ ‘The Running Man,’ ‘The Night Manager,’ and ‘Stranger Things.’
