The anime world is full of shows like ‘Elfen Lied‘ and ‘Prison School‘ that do not shy away from depicting nudity. If you’ve been watching anime for a while, you probably know how extreme some of these shows can be. But when it comes to depicting nudity in anime, Netflix has held itself back for a very long time. All this while, the prime focus of the streaming platform was to produce anime content that is suitable for all ages. But recently, Netflix has significantly expanded its list of anime shows; surprisingly, many of these have nudity. There are also some Netflix originals like ‘Devilman Crybaby‘ that take graphic nudity to a whole new level.
15. Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre (2023)
Directed by Shinobu Tagashira, this horror anthology series showcases 20 great manga stories written by famed horror manga artist Junji Ito. Each compelling story offers a unique set of fascinating characters, making this series one of the best anthologies that OTT has to offer. 14. Blue Eye Samurai (2023 -)
‘Blue Eye Samurai’ is arguably the best action anime in Netflix’s current catalog. While there is a lot of drama and exciting fight sequences that make the series memorable, the anime has some steamy sequences that complement the show’s overall narrative and help the viewers understand the characters better. None of these sexually charged moments are unnecessary or have been overdone, as they go perfectly with the flow of the story and leave a deep impression on the viewer. But because of them, the show is definitely not something a younger audience should watch. ‘Blue Eye Samurai’ takes the viewers to Japan’s Edo Period. The protagonist has suffered immensely in her life and is burning with the desire for revenge. As she sets out to teach people responsible for the dark periods in her life a lesson, she is also challenged to dig deeper into her soul to find out who she really is. 13. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022)
In the Free State of California, exists the self-reliant but crime-ridden metropolis Night City that is overrun by cybernetic implants and corruption. The city has several districts, each of which is controlled by mega-corporations that are pretty greedy. Out of all of them, Santo Domingo is the poorest with the worst-living conditions. David Martinez, who has lived most of his life in the slums there, aspires to be someday part of the world’s leading security corporation, Arasaka, to make his mother proud. But after an unfortunate incident, he is instead pushed into the dangerous world of black market mercenaries. ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ recounts a riveting tale that is full of drama, action, and emotion. In its compelling storytelling, the show also addresses several mature themes. To that end, it includes several sensually charged scenes. 12. Baki (2018 -)
Baki Hanma wants to become the most muscular man in the world, a title currently held by his own father. So when, after winning a brutal underground tournament, he decides to pursue that goal, he is met with surprising news. It turns out that some of the most dangerous martial artists who are on death row have managed to escape prison and are heading to Tokyo, desperate to know the taste of defeat. Since Baki is such a well-known fighter, he is warned that he will definitely be one of their many targets. ‘Baki’ captures the action-packed drama that unfolds as martial artists from the dark underground world meet well-respected and adored martial artists of Japan.
The Shounen series offers viewers a captivating tale of the competitive spirit of men in combat sports. While the adrenaline rush from the show is enough to entertain viewers, the show also has some steamy moments that can add to the overall appeal of the anime. ‘Baki’ does not shy away from explicit moments at all, and the viewers get an intense lovemaking scene between Baki and Kozue. 11. Bastard!! Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy (2022 -)
When the kingdom of Metallicana is attacked by the Four Lords of Havoc, the inhabitants know that they won’t stop at anything to get what their twisted heart desires. In the moment of extreme crisis, High Priest Geo is entrusted with the responsibility to make a tough decision. He has the option to use the mighty wizard Dark Schneider, the former ally of the Four Lords of Havoc, to combat the threat they pose, but the danger lies in the fact that he can potentially end up joining them, which would be disastrous for the kingdom’s fate. Geo eventually decides to put his trust in Schneider, but it turns out that he has his own plans.
The action-packed drama that unfolds in the wake of these events makes ‘Bastard!! Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy’ is one of the best shows in the genre on Netflix. Interestingly, the show does not shy away from using sexually charged scenes to tell its dramatic story. There are very few anime that have female nudity as much as Bastard!! 10. Kakegurui (2017)
‘Kakegurui‘ is a highly engaging anime that revolves around the subtle art of gambling. It centers around a very famous school known as the Hyakkaou Private Academy, where, during the day, the students follow a very typical educational format. But as soon as the sun starts to sink into the horizon and darkness begins to lurk in, the corridors of the school are turned into ruthless gambling games. The whole idea behind this is to prepare the students for the brutal real world where life in itself is an everyday gamble. While most kids are determined to do well at these gambling activities just to get their grades up, a new transfer student named Yumeko Jabami completely changes the game. Yumeko is passionate about gambling, and it’s this passion that later drives her to expose all the corrupt higher powers of the school that have taken control of the games.
‘Kakegurui‘ is an intense anime that uses its nudity and Ecchi to portray how obsessed the protagonist is with gambling. She loves it so much that it almost gives her orgasms. For many anime shows these days, especially the ones that belong to the Harem genre, fanservice is more of a selling point. But ‘Kakegurui’ is an excellent example of how nudity can actually be used in a way that not only lures a younger male audience but also conveys an important message. You can watch the anime here.
9. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf (2021)
Based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novel, ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’ is a dark fantasy action movie. The film follows the life of Vesemir, a witcher who slays monsters for coins, well-aware of the horrors of abject poverty from his early life experiences. Although he seems undefeatable in most of his fights, when a new menace arises, the protagonist is forced to confront the demons of his past and face his fears. 8. One Piece (1999 -)
For anime fans, ‘One Piece‘ needs no introduction since it is one of the big three anime that captured a global fanbase in the golden age of Jump and continues to be arguably the most popular show on the planet. The Shounen anime follows the exploits of the self-motivated Monkey D. Luffy as he embarks on his ambitious quest to get his hand on the titular treasure and earn the title of the King of the Pirates. The intricate premise and the action-packed adventure of the show have been the reason for the show’s success over the decades. While discussing the series, it is rarely mentioned that the show has no dearth of raunchy moments that could be enticing to some viewers. 7. Japan Sinks: 2020 (2020)
The Mutou family lives a very ordinary and peaceful life in the working-class suburbs of Tokyo. While they have their own personal struggles, nothing could prepare them for the ominous earthquake that strikes the entire Japanese archipelago and sets a chain of events that could eventually lead to society’s collapse in the East Asian country. As the traumatized citizens run for their lives, every decision becomes crucial as Japan starts sinking. While the near-apocalyptic drama is a captivating watch, it also has a ton of sexually provocative scenes that only a mature audience should be watching. You can stream the anime here.
6. Ōoku: The Inner Chambers (2023 -)
Taking viewers to the Edo period Japan, ‘Ōoku: The Inner Chambers‘ recounts a story of the alternate history of the country in which the Redface Pox disease that preys on men annihilates 3/4 of the male population within just eight decades. In such a crisis, the power centers of society that are traditionally controlled by men shift into women’s hands- including that of the Shogun. Interestingly, unlike other ordinary women, the Shogun gets to keep a harem of men with her. As the premise would suggest, the show does not hesitate to address mature subjects, and there are sex scenes as well. However, they have been criticized for lacking chemistry. 5. Devilman Crybaby (2018)
‘Devilman Crybaby‘ is a dark fantasy anime on Netflix that is well-known because of its nudity and violence. The series follows the story of a young cowardly boy who later turns into a demonic badass after a demon tries to possess him. With the hard exterior of a demon and the heart of a sensitive child, he becomes what one may call the “Devilman Crybaby.” Apart from having a reasonably engaging concept, ‘Devilman Crybaby’ is the perfect depiction of how some anime shows have no chill. If you’re a big fan of shows that involve extreme graphic nudity and violence, then this is one anime you should not miss out on. 4. Yasuke (2021 – )
There are very few shows that come close to ‘Yasuke‘ in terms of its unique storytelling and action-packed scenes. A reminder of anime classics like ‘Samurai Champloo,’ the historical fantasy show is set in an alternate reality and focuses on the titular protagonist, who is the only black samurai warrior in the region in 16th century feudal Japan. 3. The Seven Deadly Sins (2014 – 2020)
A huge Kingdom is taken over by a group of tyrants and that’s when, out of desperation, the princess of the kingdom is forced to look for the disbanded group of evil knights known as the “Seven Deadly Sins“. With her kingdom on the verge of being completely destroyed, she hopes that these knights will be able to help her out.
From some hilarious comic moments to badass shounen fight scenes to an exciting plot that slowly grows on you, ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ has it all. The best thing about it is that, unlike other battle anime, its fight scenes always have a backstory and are not just randomly placed throughout its runtime. But apart from all of these aspects, the show is also a little infamous for its use of fanservice and nudity. While many viewers seem to be okay with its adult content, there are others who complain about how it normalizes the whole idea of sexual harassment. So it’s not exactly the kind of show you would want to go for if you only want to watch some good fan service. But otherwise, it’s a great show for anyone who’s into long-running anime. 2. Castlevania (2017 – 2021)
Based on a gothic horror game by Konami of the same name, ‘Castlevania’ is a dark fantasy series that introduces viewers to a world of vampires, magic, and mythical creatures. While the show is known for its action-packed fight scenes and engrossing premise, it also has a ton of 18+ content inappropriate for a young audience. Apart from the implied sex scene between Sipha and Trevor, there is also an episode where Lenore seduces Hector, and the two end up engaging in a session of intense lovemaking. 1. High-Rise Invasion (2021 – )
After watching someone get murdered right in front of a mysterious assailant, Yuri Honjou, a teenager, runs for cover. Unfortunately, she soon realizes that she is trapped and the only safe place is the rooftop. Surrounded by high-rise buildings there, she realizes that her brother is also in the same place and may need her help. However, to reach him, Yuri must confront the mysterious masked murderers who are killing people to satisfy their twisted desires.
