Jason Mantzoukas, the comedy writer and actor, and Rupert Friend, known for his role in ‘Homeland‘, have joined the cast of ‘Infinite’, the action thriller from Paramount. They star alongside Mark Wahlberg, Dylan O’Brien, and Sophie Cookson, who are also part of the cast, as we previously reported. For now, the roles of the newcomers are being kept under wraps. The news was reported first by Deadline.
The movie has Antoine Fuqua attached to direct and is an adaptation of ‘The Reincarnationist Papers’, the novel by D. Eric Maikranz. The plot of ‘Infinite’ follows a man who discovers that his hallucinations actually happen to be visions from his past lives. The story then introduces the Cognomina, that is a secret society made up of people who happen to possess a complete recollection of their past lives. As a result of their memories, they serve as agents of change in the course of the history of the world. The troubled young man who is tormented by the memories of his past lives stumbles upon the society which is centuries old and decides to join their ranks.
The script of ‘Infinite’ has been adapted by Ian Shoor. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, John Zaozirny, Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, and Mark Huffam are on board as the producers. Fuqua and Raphael Crohn are attached to executive produce.
Jason Mantzoukas was most recently seen in ‘John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum‘. He also appeared in the comedy, ‘The Long Dumb Road’, which made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last year. Some of his previous projects include the likes of ‘The House’, ‘The Dictator‘, ‘How To Be Single’, ‘Sleeping With Other People’ and ‘Neighbors’. Apart from that, the actor has also had roles in television shows like ‘Big Mouth‘, ‘The League’, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘ and ‘The Good Place‘. He has also appeared in ‘I’m Sorry’, ‘No Activity’, ‘Kroll Show’, ‘Modern Family‘, ‘Transparent’, ‘Broad City’ and ‘Parks and Recreation‘. Besides his acting work, Jason Mantzoukas has also co-written ‘Mr. Neighbor’s House’ and ‘Mr. Neighbor’s House 2’ specials and the feature ‘Ride Along‘, which stars Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.
On the other hand, Rupert Friend is best known for playing the part of Peter Quinn in the Showtime series, ‘Homeland’. He has also appeared in the CBS All Access show, titled ‘Strange Angel’. He is next slated to appear in ‘Waldo’, alongside Mel Gibson. The movie tells the story of a disgraced ex-cop who seeks solace by moving to the woods, only to be pulled back into society once again by a private eye who recruits him to investigate a murder. Friend is also slated to appear in the upcoming Wes Anderson movie, ‘The French Dispatch’.
