The Amazon Original, ‘Jack Ryan’ is only the tip of the iceberg that is the Jack Ryan universe. Dubbed as the Ryanverse, the franchise created by novelist Tom Clancy is filled with troubled spies, brave soldiers and deadly villains. Jack Ryan stories have been adapted into movies and television series on numerous occasions with the involvement of actors like Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine and most recently, John Krasinski. The upcoming movie, ‘Without Remorse’ starring Michael B. Jordan is also a part of the franchise.
Released in 1993, Tom Clancy’s novel enjoyed a high level of promise from the author’s previous works. This led to Sony Pictures buying the novel’s movie adaptation rights soon after its publication, for a reported price of $2.5 million. Initially, Keanu Reeves had been offered the role but the Canadian actor had denied it. Subsequently, the project was stuck in development for more than a decade. Luckily, in 2017, Michael B. Without Remorse Plot: What is it About?
As stated earlier, ‘Without Remorse’ is a movie that is adapted from the novel of the same name by Tom Clancy. It takes place in the fictional Jack Ryan universe. This film will be another addition to the commercially successful fictional universe. However, ‘Without Remorse’ revolves around the character of John Kelly and not Jack Ryan. John Kelly is a former Navy SEAL and a veteran soldier from the Vietnam war.
The story starts when he meets a young woman with a mysterious past while he is still trying to get over his wife’s accidental death. Kelly becomes friends with the young woman and vows to protect her when her past starts to threaten her present life. Kelly does not wish to let his wife’s fate befall on another woman as well. However, the Pentagon decides to appoint John Kelly to rescue a group of prisoners-of-war from a North Vietnamese camp around the same time. As a result, Kelly is forced to juggle protecting his friend and his national duty. The story is suspenseful with multi-dimensional characters and Clancy’s characteristic attention to realism and detail.
Without Remorse Cast: Who is in it?
The extremely talented and popular actor, Michael B. Jordan leads the cast of ‘Without Remorse.’ The American actor has enjoyed a vibrant career and is recently prominent for appearing in ‘Black Panther’ as Erik Killmonger. Moreover, he is known for playing the shooting victim, Oscar Grant in 2013’s ‘Fruitvale Station.’ He played a boxer in the sequel to ‘Rocky,’ titled ‘Creed.’ Moreover, he has appeared on notable television series like ‘The Wire,’ ‘All My Children’ and ‘Friday Night Lights’ as well. Some of his other movies include ‘Fantastic Four,’ ‘Red Tails’ and ‘Chronicle.’ Jordan essays the role of the protagonist, John Kelly, code-named Mr. Clark in ‘Without Remorse.’
Additionally, the British actor, Jamie Bell plays the role of Robert Ritter in the film. Bell rose to prominence after his debut movie, ‘Billy Eliot’ itself. Plus, he also stars in ‘King Kong,’ ‘Jumper’ and ‘The Adventures of Tintin.’ ‘Without Remorse’ will mark another time that Bell will be sharing screen space with Michael B. Jordan after ‘Fantastic Four.’ He has also appeared in the television series, ‘Turn: Washington’s Spies.’
Moreover, Jodie Turner-Smith is another gifted actress from the United Kingdom who is a part of the cast for ‘Without Remorse.’ The ‘Queen & Slim’ actress will essay the role of Karen Greer in the movie. The British actress is also known for appearing in ‘Nightflyers’ and ‘The Last Ship.’
Moreover, the Australian actor, Luke Mitchell plays Rowdy in the forthcoming film. He notably appeared in the comedy movie, ‘Neighbors’ as Chris Knight. Moreover, he also stars in the television series, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,’ ‘Blindspot’ and ‘H2O: Just Add Water.’

Without Remorse Crew: Who is Behind it?
‘Without Remorse’ is directed by the Italian film-maker, Stefano Sollima. He has gained prominence for helming gritty crime movies such as ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado,’ ‘Suburra’ and the television series, ‘Gomorrah.’
The movie’s story has been written by Taylor Sheridan, based on Tom Clancy’s novel. Sheridan is also known for acting in the movie, ‘Sons of Anarchy.’
Philippe Rousselot handles the movie’s cinematography while Skydance Media, Weed Road Pictures and Midnight Radio Productions are the studios backing the project. Moreover, Paramount Pictures is distributing the film.
Without Remorse Release Date: When Does it Premiere?
‘Without Remorse’ is scheduled to release on September 18, 2020. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to watch Michael B. Jordan step into the ‘Jack Ryan’ universe and further expand its scope. Tom Clancy was a bestselling novelist and the ‘Jack Ryan’ series have fared especially well. His novels are often technically detailed and known for their quick pace and explosive action.
